I had been shopping for a Kitchenaid Mixer for years, but I was not willing to pay the prices that were being asked. I liked the beautiful Red Empire one and searched, searched, searched online and in stores and almost bought one last year when the least expensive sale price I would find was $269 for a brand new one. I noticed this year, 2007, their was a price increase up to $299 and this really irked me. I just knew I could get it for less if I kept looking. For the first half of the year, I couldn't seem to find one for which I was willing to pay the price. $269 was as low as I could find. Then one day I was looking on Ebay, and I found a really good deal for the Red Empire Artisan brand new. I could not believe my eyes. I thought something was wrong with it or it was refurbished, but it was brand new. I, of course, got it for the price I wanted. I am extremely happy with my Kitchenaid. I subsequently purchased the meat grinder attachment and made wonderful fresh ground hamburgers. The taste is incomparible! I made a fabulouse Bourbon Pumpkin Chiffon Pie for Thanksgiving...beyond belief! I also ordered the red cover for it since it seems no stores around here carry appliance covers any more. I am now mulling over whether I should purchase the pasta attachments. I will take my time deciding on this since all the reviews are not so hot. Its not the attachment that's the problem, but getting the recipe just right each time seems to be a big problem with those who have taken the time to write reviews on Amazon. So I will continue to hold off.
