This is the BEST vacuum I have ever owned!!

When we bought our Kirby, our old vacuum had just died on us! We had purchased at least 6 vacuums in the past 6 years, so we were excited to have a vacuum that had a lifetime warranty! 4 years later, our kirby still works like brand new!! The Kirby company even came out to our home to clean our vacuum and service it for us and we didn't have to go anywhere or be out of a vacuum cleaner! This is by far the best vacuum we have ever owned! It has a drive and neutral gear that makes pushing it a breeze, even my 7 year old uses it with ease! It has different levels of how close to the carpet it can go and so vacuuming our hardwood floors is great without scratching them at all!! Yes it is a rather expensive investment, but I must say, that it has paid for itself in the time we have had it and I am confident that if it does ever break down, Kirby will give us a replacement vacuum while repairing ours and if it is irreparable, they will replace it all together without us having to pay for it !!

My vaccum has a drive mechanism too--I push it and it self-propels itself into my doors and furniture all the time :+)

I agree about the level of difficulty when changing the belt, but I am such a pro at it now, it doesn't take me long at all!! I have the diamond series vacuum so it has a drive and neutral gear and it makes it SOOO easy to push, it pretty much goes on its own with little effort from me at all!! :)

I believe my best friend has this. I know she has a Kirby and she got hers from a door-to-door sales person about 3 yrs. ago. She loves it except for one thing. It's difficult to turn that knob under the rollers when you need to replace belts. We were trying to use it to inflate SpaceSaver bags last summer and once we removed the belt (per instructions) to attach a hose pipe we couldn't get the thing to work or get it reassembled. I am the electronics/gadgets person out of all the girls in my circle of friends so it was very frustrating for me to admit defeat. Also, it is really hard to push. Maybe, it's just me because I'm so small...

A long time ago, in a land far away I sold Kirbys door-to-door. We will gladly give you these handsome steak knives if you will allow us to demonstrate the Kirby in your living room!!!!

Thanks for the review, I need to buy a new vac for my place. Sounds like the Kirby is the way to go. I will check it out!
