I purchased a Kirby Ultimate G Diamond Edition vacuum cleaner and paid $1200.00 with my trade-in.
I will admit that this vacuum really does suck up the dust and dirt, however it is so heavy and bulky, and just wears me out when I use it. There are several attachments that I have not used, nor will I ever use like the carpet shampooer, the paint option, and the blower option.
When I purchased this vacuum from the salesperson that came to my home, I was really sold on it because of what I saw in the white filter she used to vacuum my area rug. I was amazed because I had just vacuumed that morning with my old vacuum.
That afternoon I decided to use the Kirby vacuum, and wow...was I in for a work-out. I used the hard floor attachment first, and the extension wands kept falling apart as I vacuumed, then I attached the main head which took forever to attach, and then vacuumed the carpets. Since my house is over 3000 square feet it took a while to vacuum the whole house, and I really didn't like the fact that I had to use two different attachments to get the job done. Oh well...I thought I could live with it, until...2 months later the light went out, and then the handle fell off during vacuuming. Rather than take the unit in for repair I finally got the handle back on although it is still loose.
All in all my opinion of the Kirby Ultimate G Diamond Edition is mixed. I think the price is to high, and there are other vacuums on the market that will do a great job and cost less money.
This vacuum would be ideal for someone with a home that is mostly carpeted, since you wouldn't have to go back through the house twice with different attachments. The upholstry attachment and the crevice tool are great to have, but it would be nice if these tools were onboard the vacuum. To store the vacuum you need some space because of everything that comes with the unit. It's heavy and bulky, and sometimes awkward. It does a good job though, but lots of work pulling it all over the house with the hard floor attachment, and then going back through to do the carpet and area rugs. When the bag starts filling the vacuum tends to fall over a lot, so I don't ever let the bag get to the full line.
