Most HelpfulI bought a Kirby 10 years ago after recarpeting my House and seeing a demonstration. It's no hype they are the best.
They are expensive no doubt but after paid for you have a sweeper for life and your carpeting looks as new as the day you bought it, as in my case 10 years later.
Mine is 10 years young and is as amazing as the day I bought it. It can shampoo the carpets, although I tend not to like or use that feature except for maybe a quickie on a spill occassionally. It cam with the hose and tools, paint sprayer, sander, you name, and she can do it.
Although, they are heavy or were that is because...

My home was not built long before buying the Kirby, so I had new carpet in three bedrooms, hallway, stairs, livingroom, and entertainment room. After 23 yrs of wear, we decided it was time to replace our carpet. The installers could not believe how clean my padding and floor was under the old carpet. They stated that usually they find more sand under the carpet than they find outside. I informed them that I cleaned with a Kirby vacumn cleaner. My carpet was so clean, they wondered why we were having it replaced. The reason,...
read full review »Okay, I am no one's little housewifey. My home is a carefully balanced series of piles and stacks held together with cat hair. But not so much cat hair as there might be, thanks to my Kirby 2000 vacuum cleaner. My mom owned a Kirby, so I was familiar with their sturdiness and dependability. I love mine from its extra long power cord to its detachable body--although it makes one of the larger, heavier hand-vacs around. Although I don't use the carpet shampoo feature as much as I ought, given the little brown smears of cat puke across my carpets, I appreciate knowing that it's there. ...
read full review »My Kirby Upright Vacum Cleaner was purchased in 1982 and it still works very well. I bought the carpet cleaning attachment and used it a lot. We no longer have carpet since we moved and live in an old home with hardwood floors. I still use the Kirby to vacum the entrance rugs and all the floors, and use the attachments to clean the living room furniture, mattress and hot water heating vents in bedrooms. My Kirby uses replaceable paper bags they are inexpensive and need to be replaced only about 2 times a year.
I bought a Diamond G Kirby Vacuum a little over 3 years ago. Since it was so expensive, I wanted a good comperhensive waranty. The Salesman told us the vacuum had a life-time waranty on all the parts except the wooden brush in the head and the inner bags. So when the cord cracked, I pulled out the waranty to find out how to get the cord replaced. I began reading and found out that the vacuum only had a 3 year limited waranty, which expired 2 months ago. In several places the waranty states that there is no other waranty. So a new cord would cost me $40! I was very angry at myself and the salesman....

By far the BEST vacuum I hve ever used. It does everything except scrub the toilet. Attachments for every household cleaning task you can think of.
I have a Tri-Star vacuum, and though it was the greatest think since peanut butter, but after I vacuumed with the Tri-Star and then went over it again with the Kirby, I was amazed! I could believe how much the Tri-Star had left behind.
The newer versions must have been created by women. The attachements are very user friendly, off and on in a snap. The new hoses are incredible. This vacuum actually has a transmissiion,...

Now, besides the price for a Kirby (they really rob you, I would NEVER pay full price, which is over $1000!!), they are great machines. One part I did find though is that the carpet cleaner attachment really does suck (and not in a good way). My hoover carpet cleaner worked 10 times better. The Kirby carpet cleaner just puts bubbles / suds all over the carpet and that's about it. It does suck up everything on the carpet though and comes with every kind of handy attachment that you can think of. I recently just got rid...
read full review »I have been using the Kirby vacuum cleaning system for about a year now. I am so glad to have it!
You can vacuum almost anything with the Kirby, and it works wonderfully! It has lots of attachments and can help make your cleaning jobs easier. My favorite is the small furniture attachment! I love vacuuming my suede couch and leaving the nice vacuum lines! You can make the vacuum handheld and vacuum several other things like that. You can vacuum your car! There is also an attachment that will vacuum your mattresses! It can also shampoo, dust, paint walls, and vacuum up hard wood floors!! I use it...
