I bought a Kirby 10 years ago after recarpeting my House and seeing a demonstration. It's no hype they are the best.
They are expensive no doubt but after paid for you have a sweeper for life and your carpeting looks as new as the day you bought it, as in my case 10 years later.
Mine is 10 years young and is as amazing as the day I bought it. It can shampoo the carpets, although I tend not to like or use that feature except for maybe a quickie on a spill occassionally. It cam with the hose and tools, paint sprayer, sander, you name, and she can do it.
Although, they are heavy or were that is because they are so well built...definitely built to last. Mine is a Heritage II and is self driven so other than carrying it from room to room although it comes with a nice long power cord usually making even that neeless, the weight doesn't really matter.
Mine came with Hepa filters and I hadn't even heard of Hep yet so they are definitely before there time.
I was scared when the local office moved not once but twice in our area and then completely out of our area, i was scared even thugh all was well with it that maybe they were a fly by night operation, so I would check it out by calling the 800 they gave me when I purchased it.
I recently called the 800 number because I think it's ready for an overhaul and the nmber is still goood and so is my life time warranty,\. send it in and it will come back just like new. Not bad!
The reason i went with it wwas because I was so tired of buting sweepers for between $150-300 every other year or less.
I would recommnd a Kirby to anyone and so would anyone I know who owns one too.
They are the best!
