Kirby Vacuum Cleaner Would I recommend it for you??? Depends.....

Kirby is sometimes sold door to door or you can find a retail store near you.

I own the 2001 G6 -limited edition series,

Kirby for Me is a love-hate relationship there are a few things I hate,and alot to love.

Kirby has been in our family for  over16 years I upgraded  to a brand new one once 8 years ago.My relitives  believe both in dysen ,kirby and Some brand from sears I can't think of the name it is a canister vac that I truely hate,I should remember the name but I don't.

I have seen several members of the family & friends buying "Other"vaccums every three/four years at 300-400 dollars each and they still don't clean very good when it starts to age.When mine keeps working just fine.

~A few key points where I notice a big difference is our flat carpet by the door,I have helped other people clean thier houses as needed and I can say my carpet there looks brand new still and it's been threw mud,snow,3 kids,high traffic, ect.When we lifted up our living room carpet to install tile flooring there was no dust/dirt under our flooring as  there normally is  when you lift up a carpet..

~Cleaning the furnace out, I have noticed a big difference there too, I have had to bring my vaccum along for helping others out with there house.There is a big suction difference there I noticed with our kirby did a better job.

As for the shampoo attachment  ,does come in handy,not a deep clean like a big rented machine but a decent clean that will dry pretty fast with a window fan blowing down on the carpet.As for cleaning the furnature I have seen the results from home demo's of family members but I haven't figured that out yet.*(Kirby does come with a book and vidieo).

~~ I had spilled or should I say "my husbend spilled" a 300 oz. container of laundry soap that he left on top of the washing machine during the spin cycle and it fell off spilling all of it into the carpet. It took a while to get it all out and lot's of suds but kirby helped me out there with the shampoo cleaning attachment for carpeting~~

Would I recommend it ~~~ For some people yes , and some no, for the following reasons...

 ~ The belt is easy to put on when it is new, as it ages it's gets a little harder, May not be easy for people who don't have good strength in thier hands, fingers.~

~ Getting the brush out to clean of strings hair ect..as it ages sometimes takes a few "cuss words" and some mad strenth to get it apart and clean This is the hate part of our relationship, Maintence as with any other vacuum there will be light maintence too.~

~~~**** IF you have alot of loose change around your house I would not reccomend it for you,I sucked a penny in so hard with the hose attachment it chipped a blade ,and had to be repaired with my first vacuum cleaning out our car, Know we use the shop vac for that.**~~~
~~ If you hate to go into another room to get the attachments, this vaccum is not for you ~~
~~If you have super thick capet pads, I wouldn't invest in the shampoo kit as a main sorce to clean your capets as it seems to wear the brush down, I learned that cleaning a relitives house for her.~(So that could be your decision);to use as spot cleaning ~
~ Older people may have a problems changing the belts and bags~ But the vaccum is very easy to push  it may be hard for them to put on the attachment hose & use the attachments.~~
~ Bags have to be ordered threw mail,online or find a dealer near you,Luckily we have a place that sells the bags near us..~~(**We buy from frontier vaccum company carries them also;not a kirby dealer they,just carry the bags there.**)
All in all; If the top things don't really apply to you or you find the same things with your vaccum it may be for you..
~~ Some Good perks ~~~
 Kirby offers a payment plan as  low as 10 bucks a month...(I paid 100 bucks a month  payment) No money down if you want it that way.
Kirby will buy your "old vaccum" and take money off of your  Kirby purchase.
~ Door to door sales men~ I "make them work for it a little" the first and second time they shampoo my living room carpet~ Saved me time and they offer it as a perk :)) "
I really love my kirby, and found it a good choice for our family..:))
In response to AmyA's comment from May 2, 2008 at 12:48PM:
If you do decide to get a referbished one,you still may be able to sell them your old vacuum as some money off :)) No matter what condition it is in.... Just something to keep in mind,tell them you heard they take it as trade in ;to take off value..Take apart the referbished one look inside at what looks like a fan blade make sure it is "metal "..."Not plastic,"start it up and compare, I think you will like it.When we had our first one repaired we did not take ours to a genuine dealer and he put a plastic blade in there,a big no-no plastic will chip over time with this suction... Just to keep in mind :))
many good points! My sister in law is trying to talk me into a rebuild Kirby...I know my mom's lasted for a very long time and the way they make vacuumes today...very sad. Thanks for all the pros and cons!
