Kirby G5 Upright Vacuum Review Summary
Kirby gets the thumbs up from reviewers. In addition to be a well made vacuum cleaner that really gets the carpets clean, this machine can be used to shampoo carpeting. Invest in a few attachments and the Kirby will clean drapes, sand, serve as a blower and even be used for massages. Reviewers do note that the Kirby is a heavy vacuum, so it may not be right for some. The Kirby is, however, a top rated vacuum cleaner that lasts for years. One reviewer said she'd owned her Kirby for ten years and that it's still going strong.

bargain shopper, Not a neat freak, not fond of cleaning, looking for convenience, not rich, Track in a lot of dirt, looking for durability, budget-conscious
If you like Uprights, but can't find a quality one, you just found the product for you. It is expensive, but look at it the way you would a new dishwasher, or refridgerator. You are buying a quality cleaning appliance that is going to last you several years. — I love the versatility of this vacuum. I've vacuumed everything, and it picks up slitely better than other vacuums. But then, with another attachment, it becomes a carpet shampooer. It does a fairly good job of that, too. I've also used it to blow up an air matress, and a pool. I've drug it out and vacuumed my car…

a homeowner, picking up after pets
My family has owned Kirby's for close to 50 years and there's a reason why. These vacuum cleaners are trojan horses. They just don't quit. All metal parts mean it can suck up a penny without blowing a whole through the motor housing. (Try that with your Eureka or Bissel) They've added the self-propelled motor so now you can ask your kids to help you clean around the house. I used mine at least once a day and only traded it in for a newer model. I've used the Dyson and let's say it sucks, but not as good as the Kirby. …

hate vacuuming, Not a neat freak, Appreciative of clever design, a woman, a homeowner, Cost conscious, willing to pay for quality, practical
Kirby's are long lasting and effective with little maintainence. They do require that you are somewhat mechanically inclined. I use a couple of the tools in the canister attachement on a regular basis, but when I deep clean once or twice a year, I use almost every attachment available. My husband has severe allergies and the filtration has been tested and proven in our household. My only warnings are: start with the basics and add on when learning the machine and think twice before buying if you have a bad back and a multi-level…

a woman, impressed with this product, willing to pay for quality
I love the Kirby G5. It can vacuum as well as shampoo your carpet and also clean wood floors too. It has many attachments for various jobs. I have my Kirby for about 10 years and it is still going strong. Although quite expensive than other vacuums, it does a great job and has fewer mechanical problems. You can clean your stairs, draperies as well as inflate things such as an air mattress. I love it because it is so…

willing to pay for quality, practical
Although the Kirby is expensive, it is worth every penny. The amount of dirt it picks up is amazing. It has tons of attachments and can clean just about anything. It can even turn into a handvac. It includes a shampoo system. Therefore, it pays for itself in just a few cleanings because you won't have to hire a third party. Mine even has a sander, blower, and massage attachment. —…
