I find the light very useful as I need a lot of light to read. The fact that it's attached to the cover and runs off the same battery as the kindle, as long a s the kindle is charged the light works, are both very valuable assets. I only wish there was an option to make the light brighter.

When I received the Kindle as a gift, this also was bought with it. It seems almost like the Kindle and the cover were one item rather than two as some cases for things are. The built in light is great for reading at night or in a dark place. the cover itself is hard and makes you not worry about your Kindle being safe in case you accidentally dropped it. There is an elastic string thing that makes it so that it will stay closed. The case fold backs all the way so that it doesn't make it difficult to read and won't just keep closing on your if you are reading it like a regular book does. I also like the fact that it comes in black because it matches the Kindle and it creates a clean, sleek look. It doesn't weigh too much either, which is ice. It doesn't make the Kindle too much bigger, so you can still carry it in your purse or another bag easily. Overall, I'd definitely recommend buying this if you buy a kindle.

I purchased this for my Kindle, the Keyboard model. It is great for reading in a dark room, only a slight glare on the screen. I love that it is powered by my Kindle itself, no separate batteries to worry about. I store my Kindle in this case while it is not being used in order to protect it. If does add some weight to the Kindle, so if I'm reading in a lighted room and don't need to extra light from the case I will remove the case. I would say I actually use the light about 50% of the time (a lot of my reading is at night, but only sometimes in a dark room). It's enough light to read by, but also not too much that my husband can still fall asleep. Highly recommend!

What do I like about the **Kindle - Leather Cover, Black, Updated Design (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle)? ** - leather case - soft - looks nice - safely stores the Kindle (even when it's been dropped). - has the spot for a light - soft sided interior - easy to keep clean What don't I like about the **Kindle - Leather Cover, Black, Updated Design (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle)? ** - doesn't come with the light - and the price difference isn't all that much - I actually wanted the colored leather case - I'm an expressive sort - no stand - there is no built in stand so I have to find ways to prop the Kindle up - and because it's leather it often slides right dow. I do really like my **Kindle - Leather Cover, Black, Updated Design (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle) **and if you don't care about the color or the stand then it's perfect for you.

The Kindle Lighted Leather Cover is a necessity for anyone who likes to read in bed after their partner has gone to sleep or the traveler that is riding in a darkened car (not driving), plane, train or bus. The light draws its power from the Kindle so there are no batteries to worry about. The light is bright enough to illuminate the reading area, but dim enough to keep from disturbing others in the room even a darkened room. I love it for traveling at night. My husband drives and I can read! Aside from the light, the cover is also good protection for the Kindle. It is the same size as the device, just makes it a little thicker. It still easily slips into my purse or side pocket of a travel bag.

The case is actually very comfortable. I've read all the reviews on amazon to find all the negative and positive points about the case before actually purchasing it because you can't really see it for yourself until it gets to you. That's also the reason why I choose black, because you can't really tell how the colors actually look like when you place your order online. Some of the bad stuff people mentioned were that the case thickness adds to the kindle's making it 3 times fatter and that the hinges that hold the kindle in place are kind of weak. I don't agree with the first negative point, it does make the kindle fatter obviously, but it feels more comfortable having the case to hold while reading, the extra weight of the case is no big deal at all and I like being able to pull out that light to read when ever I need it. The hinges really are weak though and I'm afraid it might break if I ever drop the case with the kindle in it.

When I purchased my Kindle I knew I would want a cover and a light to go with because I enjoy sitting outside early in the morning before the sun comes up. I looked at several option and many were a little less in price. I have had book lights before and found the illumination lacking so I when I ordered I was a little concerned of the quality of the light; but I was pleasantly surprised! the light is hidden in the corner of the cover and it conveniently pulls out when you want to use it. The Kindle is designed to plug into the cover so it is what powers the light. The dispersement of the light is angled just right and since it is fixed to the cover you don't have to worry about it slipping out of place and distracting you from what you are reading. The cover itself is simple but very well made in a nice grain leather and lined in felt so there are no rough edges to scratch your Kindle reader. This is cover is offered in  a variety of colors right now but I hope that they come out with some new print designs, but until then I can alway get some of the cool skins they offer for the Kindle.
