I first picked up the book The Memory Keepers Daughter after my son told me to read it.  I normally don't read fiction but he stated that it was a very well written book.  He reads all sorts of books, especially if they are well written.  I thought, why not, so I bought it and started reading it. ... read full review »

I love books. I buy them incessantly and build stacks so high that they become decorative objects. They go where I go and book stores are my favorite places.

THE MEMORY KEEPER'S DAUGHTER

This story opens in 1964, in the middle of a blizzard. Norah Henry goes into labor during the night, and her husband, Dr. David Henry, drives them to his office, knowing that in that due to the storm, the hospital is too far away. His nurse, Caroline Gill, is there waiting to meet them.
Their son, Paul, is born, perfectly healthy. Shortly after, David realizes that Norah is actually giving birth to twins, and a daughter, Phoebe, is born next. David soon realizes thought, that his daughter was born with Down's Syndrome.
