My hairdresser had one of these in her Salon and I was desperate for a cup of coffee and didn't know how to use it (and was afraid to ask for fear of looking like an idiot!). Luckily, she offered to make me a cup so I took the opportunity for a quick lesson. That did it! I knew I had to have one. I asked her how much and she told me the price, $149.99, but that if I get it at Bed, Bath and Beyond and use the 20% coupon, I would get quite a savings. Since I work from home and have to have my coffee in order to work, it qualifies as a business expense - Yipee! So off I go to pick mine up.
Much to my delight, the package also included an 18-pack sampler of assorted coffees, teas and even a package of cocoa. What fun!
Ok - this machine uses K-Cups. You can get them at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but even with the coupon, they can be found cheaper online. Just look around. Amazon.com is a good one to try. There are many, many flavors available and if you are like me, you'll want to try just about every one - and if you're also like me, you'll realize that you just can't do that - way too expensive (yes, there are that many varieties).
I am into flavored coffees, so names like German Chocolate Cake, Cinnamon Pastry, Hazelnut, Rain Forest Nut (my favorite!), French Vanilla, Swiss Chocolate Almond, Mudslide, and the list goes on and on and on...
It is so very nice to make a cup of coffee in less than 1 minute and no muss, no fuss. No coffee grounds to dump, no filters to clean out. Just a nice, neat little K-cup to pick up and throw away.
But, for those of you who love your ground coffee, Keurig has just the thing - the My K-cup is a special device that lets you measure out your own ground coffee into the little filter basket and place it in the machine. I bought this also, as I had quite a collection of ground coffees to go thru from my old coffee machine.
However, it does require cleaning out the grounds - I just dump mine into the sink and let the garbage disposal eat them. Hey - garbage disposals work hard and they deserve a coffee break now and then! LOL
