I bought this Kenmore Window Unit a/c a few months ago.  I had a smaller a/c unit but it just wasn't cutting it.  I could leave it on all day and even just one room would still be a sauna.  Now we have been having a very hot, humid summer, but it was unbearable.  I have asthma and can not take that kind of continuous heat.  So I decided to try another unit and move the smaller one to my office.  I have no central air so a/c units are the only way to go for me. When I bought this Kenmore unit I worried that it was too big for my window.  But it is the perfect fit.  I leave it on about 74-75 degrees all day, so my animals can stay cooler.  If not it would be 120 degrees when I get home.  Can't have that! I love that this unit has a temperature controlled thermostat, that will first cut down the amount of air as it gets close to the temp you have it set for.  Then it will stop until it is needed.  The remote is nice too, because it is not too big and bulky, and not so small it has no options.  There is nothing I don't like about this unit.  The increase in my electric bill is less than $10 a month.  To stay cool, and be able to breath easier, and know my animals are cool during the day while I am at work is definately worth the slight increase in electric costs.

I know what you mean about the heat. I had to purchase a bigger unit also this summer. Mine was acting up and making funny noises. I bought a Sears Kenmore also, but a 10,800 BTU's. The old one only neede to be cleaned out. I put the new one in my daughter's room. So the air could circulate through the whole house better. I am surely glad I didn't wait until the heat wave hit.

Good review. I think I have the same model. Have really liked the energy-saving feature. Am having a little trouble with it now (after a year or so) but always check the troubleshooting list first. Sometimes I need to read the directions again! Stay cool!
