We purchased a Kenmore Elite Oasis Canyon Capacity Washer in 2007 when they were first inroduced to the market.  It was supposed to be energy efficient: save on water, electricity and time.  We hadn't had it very long, approximately 4 months, when the tub inside came loose and the control panel went bad.  We called Sears for help.  They sent out a technician that said it was a fitting that had stripped out and he replaced it and reset the control panel.  He went on his way.  Two weeks later it happened again, only this time the water would not drain out.  We called for help once again.  Another technician came out and said that he would have to order parts to fix it and would be back in 7-10 days when the parts came in.  We had to go 2 weeks without a washer!  Another technician came in and replaced the bad parts, reset the control panel and left.  three days later it happened again.  this time we demanded a new washer and got what we asked for.  The new washer lasted long enough for the warranty to expire and the control panel went out!  the technician came out replaced the control panel, gave us his bill and left.  Sears was kind enough to reimberse us most of the cost.  but, last week we received a notice that our washer had a recall:  to replace the control board!  At this time we are waiting on a technician to come out and replace it!

Despite much praise from some magazines and on TV shows, I've heard lots of horror stories about front-load washers in general and Kenmore Elite in particular. Sorry that you've had such problems with this. The water savings aren't worth it... I will stick with a top-loader.

Good luck with this. I really hope it gets taken care of by Sears.
