Kenmore Washer - Oasis HE —

I purchased my Oasis washer/dryer set in January. As a former employee at Sears, I had a little bit of an edge when it came to pre-shopping for my new set. I had my eye on the Oasis set from before it actually came to the stores because I got to learn about it as my fellow co-workers went through intensive training on the new product. (I haven't worked for Sears since the middle of March.) THE biggest thing to remember about this washer is that you really need to sort your laundry down not just by color, but also fabric, or else it will get torn at worst, misshapen at best. As a former "throw everything in the same color family into the washer" person, it really took some adjustment for me to do that. But, making the mistake once of throwing black bras in with the other dark colored clothes, I learned my lesson. I use the proper setting for each clothes type now, and cleanliness is not affected in any way. Gentle/no spin cleans my clothes as effectively as my jeans come out. The other big thing to remember is to always use HE detergent. It doesn't matter what brand, or available scent, it is, just that it's HE. Otherwise, it will end up "gucking up" the motor's parts and shutting it down. I love having no agitator in the middle that takes up room for clothes as well. And the other big thing for me is not having to worry about leaving the lid open to air the washer out so mold doesn't form under the rim. I looked at front-loaders too, and having very active teens, and a 4-year-old grandson in the house that likes to run through the laundry room, bashing a head on an open washer door wasn't a good option for me. The machine is easy to use, easy to clean when it needs it, and my electric and water bill from washing clothes is down 75%. Pairing it with the Oasis dryer made a huge difference in the electric bill as well. What I regret most about buying my set when I did was 3 months later, a more energy-efficient model of each came out which would have saved about 87% on the utilities. What I like most about it, besides the money saved on electric, is the time I save as well. It is wonderful to have the clothes dry before the next load of clothes in the washer is done washing. I used to have to do at least one load of laundry a day. With as fast as I can get laundry done now, I can skip a few days before even thinking about laundry. I have always liked Kenmore appliances, and had used them long before I worked at Sears. Their dependability is bar none, where other brands have shown to disappoint over the years. (Example: Maytag washers and dryers used to be the standard, now I wouldn't even guide my worst enemy to buying one unless it was a front-load washer, they're the only Maytag's left that are worth a hoot.) The machines are quiet (I kept checking them the first week I had them to make sure they were still running!), my laundry is as clean as the day I purchased them and in the shape I purchased them in, and the time I save lets me get on to better things with my kids. That's my Oasis to every day living.
