Kenmore Elite Coldspot Undercounter Ice Maker

On a visit to my future would be in-laws home years ago, I found that they had an undercounter ice maker and I thought it was such a convenient idea that I put it on my list of things I wanted in my dream home. I got it and I am very glad to I did.

The Kenmore Elite Coldspot Undercounter Ice Maker, resembles on the outside, and takes up about as much space as, an undercounter trash compacter.  Ours has a stainless steel front panel but there are other options as well.

The Kenmore Ice Maker takes the guess work out with a green light for "clean," yellow light for "OK," and red light for "needs cleaning."  It is easy to clean.  Simply push the clean button and the ice maker will empty.  Wipe out the inside and pour the ice maker cleaning solution through the tray as instructed.

Why I love having the Kenmore Elite Coldspot Undercounter Ice Maker:

-It makes small, square ice cubes perfect for glasses or throwing in the blender for making smoothies.

-I never run out of ice or have to buy bagged ice, even when we fill multiple coolers for fishing trips or tailgate parties.

-When I have guests over for parties, my guest never have to a) use a fridge front ice maker and spray ice all over my floor or b) heaven forbid go through my freezer to get ice.

-My kids can be independent in easily getting their ice with the scooper from an ice maker that is at their level, even for preschoolers.

We talked to a lot of people who had owned stand alone ice makers before making this purchase and because it does involve a motor compressor and tubing, we did decide to invest in the 5 year-year full warranty from Sears in case we needed repairs.  With my husband's diligent research and patience to wait and buy an end of the year model, we were able to get the ice maker and the five-year warranty for the same price as the latest models were going for.

My Viewpoint:  The Kenmore Elite Coldspot Undercounter Ice Maker is great  for an active family that pack lots of coolers and likes to entertain at home.  I am spoiled now and I would never want to go back to a freezer door ice maker.

This sounds awesome!

Speaking of icemakers. Last Friday I thought I was going to leave a handbasket on the ice bin at Walmart while I went to the restroom. It was Girls Night Out so my friends were with me. I put the basket on the bin and heard a kaboom and the basket disappeared! It seems the top to the icebin wasn't level with the bin and my basket disappeared. The other day a friend and I were there and we could still see the handle of the basket.
