Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher Reviews

After just 5 years our Kenmore dishwasher's motor is shot. We bought a higher end dishwasher and we have had it repaired once already. We bought all of the nicer appliances & this is very disappointing. Not to mention the fact of the cost - almost $300 for the repair and $65 for the repair man to come out & give an estimate. Also, the repair man told me that there are a lot of problems with the Kenmore appliances.

We bought a model home with this dishwasher already installed.   I am counting the days until I can replace it.  I am about to call a repairman to see if any of the following issues are normal:

1.  Choosing Smart-wash and Sani-rinse cycles makes our machine run for TWO HOURS.   Who's ever heard of this?

2.  Our dishes do not get clean unless we preheat the water by turning on the kitchen sink faucet and waiting for the water to get hot, before starting the adjacent dishwasher.

3.  The interior layout is not one I prefer.  There are not enough places to put certain types of dishes and...

I have or should I say had a Kenmore Ultra Wash QuietGuard 3 Model # 665.16019, which my wife and I purchased two and a half yrs ago. The motor/pump assembly locked up two nights ago. The motor began to hum and became extremely hot. Now it no longer runs.  This is pretty sad for a minimally used dishwasher to die in less than three years. We are just a family of three (My wife, my son and I). The very disappointing thing is that Consumer Report Magazine rated this dishwasher high. I would like to know the longevity of the dishwashers that were rated low, if the highly rated dishwasher ran...

My major concern when researching dishwashers was to find a QUIET reliable machine.  Consumer Reports gave some great advice which we followed and won't ever regret.  Our old machine was just so loud; hubby would turn it off when ever he was in the kitchen for any length of time, so we would usually wake up to no clean cups/bowls for breakfast!  I hated that.  This Ultra Wash Quiet Guard Plus is so quiet, we can be sitting around the kitchen table with company and chat away without annoying background noise.  WE LOVE IT!  (and we like always having clean dishes come morning too :)  )

Leading consumer group reccomended and they were accurrate!  Very versatile loading ability(can adjust top rack height-fold down tines etc).

Very quiet-can talk on phone beside without interference.

Great cleaning ability-nothing left over no residue.

Easy to operate-just push "smart cycle" and it does the rest!!!!

Upon receiving this dishwasher (The Kenmore Ultra Wash) it worked so well for the first three months.  After that, it slowly stopped working.  It would go through then entire was cycle and when I would open it up to empty it, I noticed that half of the detergent was still in the dispenser.  I would run it again, and nothing.  It finally, a month later, just stopped working.  Having a one year warranty on it, I called the place I bought it from and they scheduled a time to come out and look at it.  In the meantime, they told me that I was NOT supposed to be using liquid detergent with this...
