Fabulous top loading washer!

I love this washer! A couple of years ago, I switched from using a Kenmore front loading washer (which I HATED) to a Kenmore top loading washer. I did a lot of research when purchasing this washer. I wanted a top loading washer because I felt like the front loaders held the soap and did not use enough water to get the clothes clean. The feature that I liked the best about this washer was that it had a stainless steel drum. That was a huge selling point for me. I also liked the way the agitator worked. It seemed as though it was far gentler on the clothes than the older models of top loading washers. I have been more than impressed with this appliance. My clothes are clean and I have had no issues whatsoever with this appliance. I like the variety of settings that you have to choose from. In particular, I use the auto fill option the most often. This is a great feature because you do not have to "guess" the size of the load of clothes you are washing. The only minor issues I have had are strings getting tangled in the agitator. It is usually easy to untangle the strings. Overall, I am very impressed! I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Can't go wrong with a Kenmore

I have used Kenmore all of my married life (40+) years and I have only had to buy two sets of washer/driyers during this amount of time. I would be crazy to use anything else but Kenmore as they has been so lasting and durable for me. I don't like front load washers so I always have the top load like my mother before me. I'm given the choice of washing in permapress, ultra clean, prewash or soak. I can also select my speed, water level and water temperature. I want to be given all of these options because I do vary my washing from item to item. When I decided to get new machines, I donated my first set of washer/dryer to a local school to be used by the janitor to do mops and other items. But the athletic department also used them to clean the ball uniforms from game to game. It lasted through 15-20 years with me then continued to be used by the school for several more years when they got newer ones and gave the old ones to another family that needed them. As far as I know, they are still being used and I am still using my second set of Kenmore washer/driyer.

Exactly what I need

This washer is great. I went with the Kenmore brand because that's what my parents had when I lived with them and I liked their washer. Since I live alone, I don't have a huge amount of clothes to wash so I can't say how well the washer does with bigger loads. For the small loads that I throw at it, it does the job well. It cleans my clothes very good and soaks out alot of water so that the dryer has an easier/quicker time drying them. The washer is a bit noisy but i've only used noisy washers so i'm used to it already. It also cleans very quick. With the settings I use, my clothes are ready for the dryer in less than 40 minutes. Overall, this is a good washer.

Great washer.

I purchased this washing machine almost two months ago. I am extremely happy with it, my clothes come out very clean and it is so quiet when it runs. I love how many options it has when it comes to temperature, cycles and rinses. If I had to choose again I would definitely get this washer.

Cleans well and clothes are almost dry when I remove them.

Bought about 6 weeks ago and so far I love it! Energy Efficiency My energy bills have been lower for the month. Cleaning Time Cleans way faster than my old washer, a lot easier to get all the was done in one day. Performance Performs well a little noisy , but not as much as old one. My grandaughter and i used to joke about the old one getting ready for takeoff when I started it! Ease of Use Very easy to use, did not really even have to read the pamphlets. Design No agitator, easy to adjust controls and plenty of room for bulky items, it even has a bulky item setting with three different types! Durability Seems very durable like it will last a long time, which is one of the main things that we were looking for. It took us 6 months of research and price checking to decide, but kenmore always seems to be the brand we end up with! We still have a 20 something canister vacuum that works like a new one, and its a kenmore.

Reliable and Efficient

I've cut down on the amount of detergent I use since I got this machine. Energy Efficiency No complaints. Cleaning Time Seems like the time could be shorter. The regular cycle I use is about 49minutes. Performance It cleans even the dirtiest of clothes really well. Ease of Use Very easy to use. I was a little nervous at first with it being a high efficiency machine but there is a little cup for liquid detergent and it tells you to remove it if using powder detergent. Very straight forward. Design Simple but good. I am not a fan of too many buttons on a machine. This feels like it has the right touch. Durability I've had my machine for over a year now and I've had no complaints with it at all.

Very Poor design and not intended for efficiency.

1

This machine is a very poor design. It is not efficient or convenient to use due to laundry time and the locking lid. It does a very poor job of getting clothing clean and makes what should be a fast and easy chore very time consuming. Plus it makes irritating noises when it agitates and tries to fill with water. Energy Efficiency It is not engergy efficient as it takes an hour to do one load of laundry Takes to long to fill. All the starting and stopping as it tries to fill use a great deal of electrical energy. Cleaning Time It takes an hour to do one load of laundry and 30 minutes more if you elect to use the second rinse. It takes all day to do a four loads of laundry. This machine is like a giant step back when it comes to efficiency and ease of use. One could pound their clothing on the rocks by river faster than it takes this machine to fill with water. Performance It barely agitates and the clothing feels rough like all the detergent has not been rinsed out of it them and they do not seem to come out clean. Ease of Use If you have a life and think that laundry should be done quickly and efficiently, this is not the machine for you. The locking lid is irritating and inconvenient as well as the fact that the machine takes an hour or more to do one load of laundry. Why does it need a locking lid? The claim is for safety. I am unaware that the machine is unsafe if the lid did not lock--it is a top loader. Why does it take so long for the machine to fill with water and what is with all the dead time when it is just sets with out agitating, draining, or filling with water? Design The machine looks OK but mechanically and functionally leaves much to be desired. Durability I question anything that involves sensors and unnecessary electornic components. If is not broken don't fix it or improve on it or maybe the new model should be tested by someone who actually does laundry and has some expectations of what a washing machine should do and what clean clothing entails.

This machine takes out all the dirt and stains in one wash.

It washes good. The water fills up to where you want the water lever to be. Some machines do not fill up on the rinse cycle. Great for large loads and easy to use. It locks the lid when the wash cycle starts. Energy Efficiency It is average for energy efficency. Cleaning Time You can set the machine for any cleaming time you need. Dirtier loads can wash longer than the others. Performance I have had not problems with the performance of this machine. It cleans well and the spin cycle gets the water out of the clother for faster drying time. Ease of Use The controls are easy to set. Just select when you need and then press start. Design This design is a little smaller than the one I had but the tub is larger and can fit into the spot I have for it. Durability I wash a lot of clothes and this seems to be holding up well.

Not happy with my Kenmore Top-Loading Washer

2

I have 4 problems with this machine. 1. I don't like the locking lid feature. I like to add the detergent and let the washer fill a little before/while I add the clothes. With this locking lid you have to close the lid to start the washer, then stand and wait for it to fill, pause the fill cycle to open the lid and then add clothes. 2. It fills very slowly. I've started using the time I have to wait on it to fold and hang clothes. I spend way more time in my cold basement than I want to. 3. The spin cycle works too well. The clothes spin almost dry, which in itself is not a bad thing, but the clothes are so wrinkled it is ridiculous. I don't usually put shirts or sweaters in the dryer. I hang them or lay them flat to dry but they are so wrinkled I'm having to iron sweaters. I don't have time for that. 4. It aggitates so slow that some of the clothes are not clean. I guess this cuts down on the noise. I'd sacrifice quiet for clean.
