This was the first vacuum I purchased when I started housekeeping over 25 years ago!! I still have the vacuum and use it every week. The wheel has come off, the light has burned out and the power brush head has stopped working, but I still use the other attachments with it and it still does a great job of cleaning the carpets. I also use this vacuum to clean the pet hair off the furniture and I use the crevice tool to get into the air vents and small corners. Maneuverability I love canister vacuums. I think they are a lot easier to maneuver around furniture than upright vacuums. It is a bit bulky and harder to carry from room to room than an upright vacuum, but I like that it is easier to use than an upright. Ease of Maintenance We have changed the hepa a few times and change the bag when it gets full. Other than that, we haven't had to do anything to this vacuum. Suction Performance This vacuum has different settings that make it easy to pick up dirt from hardwood floors, carpet, and everything in between. Versatility This vacuum is very versatile. We use it to clean the carpets, furniture, blinds, curtains, stairs, hardwood floors, linoleum, etc. Design This design is simple, yet very versatile. Durability I have had this vacuum for over 25 years and it is still going strong!

This vacuum is good for what it is. It vacuums up surface dirt. However, it broke after 3 years and the price to get it fixed was absolutely ridiculous. It just isn't built to last. And I realized I do not like dragging a canister around when I vacuum. It is quite heavy to do this and makes vacuuming a bigger hassle than it already is. However, it was easy to clean. I just removed the bag and replaced it with a new one. But after having vacuumed with a Dyson, there is just no going back. I vacuumed with the Progressive on a daily basis and found that it did not pick up all of the dirt. It just picks up surface dirt. If you want to get within the layers of the carpet, you need a powerful suction. This vacuum fails in that aspect. It just is not a powerful vacuum. It is a better idea to save your money and buy a higher quality vacuum that will last a long time rather than buy this one and have to replace it in a few years.

We bought our Kenmore Progressive Bagged Canister Vacuum soon after we were married. We chose to get this type of vacuum because my parents have had a similar one for many years and were generally pleased with it. Therefore, it was an easy choice for me to make. I've never been a fan of upright vacuums as they don't seem as easy to use for smaller tasks. The Kenmore Canister Vacuum transitions easily from carpets to floors and has other attachments for other tasks. The long hose makes it easy to clean ceilings and floorboards. The bags last for a long time before they need to be changed. When you do run out, the refills are semi-reasonably priced. Like most vacuums it is loud but not obnoxiously so.

I have always bought similar models to Kenmore's Progressive 27514 Bagged Canister Vacuum, and have recently bought this exact model when my older one broke down. It so far is holding up the same as my previous Kenmore vacuum cleaners have worked, and I expect it to have around the same life as the others. Generally, the price for this vacuum cleaner is what tips me to buying it. It is very affordable compared to many other vacuum cleaners, and as for effectiveness, I would say it's just as effective as those other brands of vacuum cleaners. My main problem with it is that it doesn't last for many years - I would says around 3 years is when it breaks down, which is somewhat of an inconvenience. But then again, the other brands did the same thing, for more expensive. All in all, this product is worth it to me for the price.

my parents bought me this vacuum a few years ago when i moved into a house with ALL wood floors. i LOVE this thing for so many reasons. first of all, it's pretty small so it's easy to store in the coat closet and to wheel around the house. it doesn't work very well on rugs, but since i only have one rug it's not a big deal. i use this thing to clean under couch cushions, the baseboards when they get dusty, the fan blades, cobwebs out of the corners of the ceiling, under furniture, and even our tiny spiral staircase (the only carpet in the house)! i haven't yet had to buy replacement bags but they take a long time to fill up so that's pretty cool considering they're not huge bags. i like that you can adjust the suction so it's gentle or strong depending on what you're cleaning. this thing is a MUST HAVE if you have a lot of hard flooring such as wood or tile! it's way better than a broom and it's easy enough my 4 year old can run it (when he's willing, haha). love the retractable cord as well!

We bought this cannister vacuum cleaner about 6 months ago. I was getting sick of lugging our upright vacuum cleaner up and down the stairs and we were also having lots of trouble with suction in our old vacuum. The first time I used this kenmore cannister vacuum cleaner I was AMAZED at how much it sucked up. I never realized how crappy our other vacuum cleaner was! The Kenmore Progressive is relatively lightweight, pretty easy to lug up and down the stairs. It has excellent suction and seems to do well with only one pass. It works great on carpet and pretty well on tile and wood floor. The only thing it has trouble picking up on hard flooring is salt from outside which this time of year can become a bit annoying. Depending on what bags you buy they are either cheap or very expensive. The HEPA bags are expensive but the paper bags are cheap. It depends on what you are looking for. If you want HEPA clean you need to spend more on the bags. The attachments have all proven useful and all work very well. Cleaning under couch cushions has never been easier! I would highly reccomend this vacuum!

I have this Kenmore Progressive Vacuum. It works well. It is not the best vacuum cleaner in the market, but it works well for me. I don't think it sucks up as much dirt as a more powerful vacuum cleaner. I have to go over the same area more than once for the vacuum cleaner to pick up all the visible dirt. The vacuum doesn't have a power-assist motor, so sometimes it takes some force to push the vacuum. Maybe I am just weak. This vacuum cleaner is durable. The hose seems durable enough that it does not break easily. I had an old vacuum cleaner where the hose bent easily and even caused a hole. I picked this Kenmore vacuum because the hose looked like it would hold up to normal abuse. This vacuum cleaner is loud, but all vacuum cleaners are loud, even if they claim to be whisper quiet. No vacuum cleaners are whisper quiet--it is all marketing nonsense. This Kenmore vacuum is less noisy than my old vacuum cleaner. The attachments are easy to attach to the vacuum. I wish the handle had more padding. My hand gets sore pushing the vacuum around the whole house. This is a very good vacuum cleaner. I would buy again.

This Kenmore vacuum cleaner is versatile, durable, and powerful. This vacuum can do it all except take out the trash! This Kenmore sweeper has many strengths making it a fine addition to any household. It is easier to use a canister vacuum sweeping stairways than a standard upright vac. The sheer lightness of the Kenmore Progressive vacuum makes it very portable and is a  helpful tool for cleaning out your automobile. Another positive attribute of the sweeper is all of the on-board peripheral accessories. Included are all the necessary brush, curtain, and nook attachments, but most impressive is the addition of the power brush. The power brush is an attachment that is useful for pesky clumps on your carpet and for cleaning your furniture(especially animal fur and dander... or if you hang out with a Wookie!). One drawback of this sweeper is the high expense of the Hepa filter vacuum bag. Another disadvantage is that sometimes the on-board accessories compartment comes open unintended. Overall, the Kenmore Progressive is still a very good value for the money. With the portability, versatility, and decent durability of the Kenmore Progressive Canister Bagged Vacuum, you have a quality home maintenance assistant for many years to come.

This Kenmore Progressive Vac carpet head kicks out more dirt with the rotating brushes than it sucks in.  The carpet head seems to be too lite.I have to push down on the carpet head to make it suck up better. The only way to clean the bare floors is to change from the carpet head and use the bare floor cleaner. I will never buy another vac like this one.

I searched & read reviews on the internet before purchasing this Kenmore Vacuum Cleaner.  I love the Pet Powermate motorized attachment to remove the cat hair from their beds and furniture.  That has been a life saver in this house and I highly recommend anyone getting a vacuum cleaner with this type of attachment.  I also love the dirt indicator that lets you know if you have really cleaned the carpet.  The electronic performance indicator is also a plus to let you know if the filter is full.  I use the HEPA filters since we have three cats in the house.  It has four height settings:  extra low, low, medium and high.  This is great if you have different types of carpet or wood floors.  It also has two settings - one for floor or throw rugs and the other for carpet.  There are two filters, crevice tool, floor brush/wand, cleaning nozzle and powermate jr.  The cord retracts easily into the cleaner and is 24feet long.  It has a lighted head, on board tool storage, hepa filtration, 14" wide sweep, 6 foot hose and a swivel wheel underneath to easily move the canister around.  I liked this so much I also bought my mother this cleaner.  The HEPA filtration is great for cleaner exhaust air.  I have used this cleaner now for two years and the only complaint I have is the belt.  The belt has broken twice and the expense of shipping is three times the price of the actual belt.  The belts are not available in stores or at their hardware stores.
