Kenmore Microwave - 1100 Watt  —

My husband and I purchased this Kenmore Microwave Oven #63359 in black from our local Sears store around three years ago.  The original price was $129 but the day we were there, it happened to be on sale for $89.  Not a bad price at all for a Kenmore.

The Microwave

This microwave is sleek looking in black and puts out a fair amount of power at 1100 watts. The dimensions are as follows:  depth 17-1/8 in., height 12-1/2 in., turntable Diameter 14 in., maximum Width 21-7/8 in.

Along with the microwave comes a glass turntable with a turntable roller rest and features a child lock, a kitchen timer, a clock, a quick touch sensor, auto defrost, express defrost, auto cook, and an add a minute button.  There are preset buttons for reheat, potato, rice, popcorn, fresh vegetable, frozen vegetable and frozen entree.

There is a full one-year warranty on the microwave oven and a full five year warranty on the magnetron.

My Experience

This microwave is extremely user friendly with its clear and easy to read touch-pad control panel.  The "add a minute" feature is one that I use often when I am just warming up leftovers. The "popcorn" button is also a very popular one in our household.  It works perfectly, never burning our popcorn.  The kitchen timer is very convenient and can be set from 1 to 99 minutes.

The child lock was very important when we first got the microwave because my one son was just three years old then and loved to push buttons.  Another feature that I use often is the auto defrost which has three defrost levels; meat, poultry, fish. The express defrost function is pretty handy as well.

We have had this microwave for three years now and have had no problems at all until just recently.  The lever that we push to pop open the door only works sporadically now.  I have a feeling that it just might cost as much as we paid for the whole microwave to get it fixed.

Final Thoughts

Regardless of the mishap we recently encountered with the lever on the door, this microwave has given us three good years so far and for only $89!  I would recommend this microwave and would buy it again if it was still being sold when we needed a new one, therefore I am giving it a 4 star rating.
