Kenmore HE2 Plus Front Load Washer Review Summary

Viewpoints reviewers are split over the Kenmore washer. For some, it’s a great way to save money since the front load washer uses less detergent and water. Customers also like the big loads it can handle and efficient spin cycles, which cuts down on dryer time. The Kenmore HE2 is also easy to use and comes with an instructional DVD. On the flip side, other reviewers have found this front loader leaks, vibrates and accumulates mold. And, several have given it low ratings for poor customer service and continually breaking. Looks like the verdict is still out on the Kenmore washer. Want to keep shopping? Read more reviews on washing machines

I bought this machine for Kenmore's reputation as well as it's large capacity.  I have four teenagers and a husband.  I do a lot of laundry.  I did have a king size capacity top loader washer prior and was looking for the same capacity.  It does have a good capacity size… read full review »

I purchased this washer 8 months ago.  It has always leaked a bit, and vibrated and walked all around the laundry room.   Three weeks ago, the "boot", the seal inside the door, failed.  Clothes inside the washer were torn in the process and the floor was flooded as all the water… read full review »

I've seen a lot of negative reviews on this washer. People have complained about mold issues, leaking water from the locked door, and the control board acting crazy. (all within a couple of months of ownership) I personally have had my washer for well over 9 months, and have never had a problem with it. (Fingers crossed) It's quiet during cycles, has a super fast spin cycle, that practically dries the clothes. There's a variety of cycles from super long to short, and you can add if you want a presoak, or a 2nd rinse in there, and it calculates how long the cycle will take to finish. I… read full review »

Where to start...You can put a lot of clothes in this washer which is nice.  It said a king sized comforter would fit, but my daughters full size barely fits (it is thick though).  It's energy efficient..how I don't know as my washer takes well over an hour to wash a load unless I'm doing express wash or delicate cycle.  The pedestal doesn't come with the washer and, in my opinion, is way over priced.  Things get down in between the rubber seal and the drum and are not easy to remove.  We had a pair of kids underwear stuck in there and didn't realize it until the drum… read full review »

This washer was one of the first appliances my husband and I bought as a married couple. It was a dream for the first 10 months and then it began throwing up 5d error messages. It used to lock my clothes in the washer, stop mid cycle and always has a rancid smell!! I'm so discouraged with this machine. From a year on it was basically not usable. The Sears hotline wanted nothing to do with me, except buy a service plan for $300 dollars!? We finally figured out what was wrong with it through a complaint blog. Apparently the draining system can get clogged. It's an easy fix. You take the bottom… read full review »

I purchased this washing machine a couple of months ago. I love this washing machine. I can load huge amounts of towels at a time. After the clothes have been washed, a lot of the water has been wrung out, cutting my drying time in half. — The buttons and the locking door are convenient. — I haven't had any problems with mold. I've heard they can get moldy so every once in a while I crack open the washer door and let it air dry. — Although this product is expensive ($700-$800), I think it is definitely worth the money. It also requires less detergent than the top… read full review »

I just got it hooked up today and did my first load of laundry... This machine took my entire standard clothesbasket in one load! (2 maybe three loads with my old standard units) It took about an hour to finish but the clothes come out so dry the dryer only needs about 15 minutes... so its just like the reverse of my old standard washer and dryer. I really like it so… read full review »

This washer gets my clothes just as clean as my previous top loading washer while using less water.  It is amazing.  I can also use less detergent.  The high speed spin dries my clothes out much better than before.  It takes less time to dry the clothes in the dryer.  The price on this model was not that much more than a top loading washer.  The energy savings should pay for the increase in cost within a few months of use.  I highly recommend this model to anyone who needs a new… read full review »

We bought the Kenmore HE2 Plus last summer to make washing a little easier and more enjoyable for me and to save water.  It was the best buy I've talked my husband into in a long time.  My only draw back is that I sometimes have to rewash some clothes that are stained because they get caught up in other clothes so they might not get the best cleaning the first time (but that could be something I'm doing wrong) and it didn't wash my king size comforter as good as I'd like.   It took a while to get all the water out before I could dry it but again that could have been… read full review »

Kenmore HE2 Plus Front Load Washer is a great washer.  It's large capacity allows me to easily wash my Queen comforter.  Front load saves water and detergent!  Final spin dries clothes so that they need less time in the dryer.  I bought the matching dryer and have it stacked on top of the washer.  The only negatives are that at high spin the washer shakes and pops the door open on the dryer (think I just need to level it better) and you cannot leave items in washer overnight - moldy/musty smell (I run the clean washer cycle with bleach to remove the… read full review »

This front loading washing machine works good but not up to my standards.  My clothes don't seem to smell as clean as they have in the past with my top loading washers.  I also learned that you have to keep on cleaning the glass and the rubber seal where the water sits in.  If you don't it will leave black marks on your clothes.  I don't care for the front loaders because of all the maintaining I have to do to it.  I am busy with 3 little ones, it is hard to clean the soap dispensers monthly and hard to always dry out the glass and rubber seal. … read full review »

I've had this washing machine for a couple of years now and I love it!! It's very easy to use and if you have any questions just pop in the DVD for help. My clothes don't get bunched up or fade. Plus, the less detergent the better. So, you end up saving money on detergents. My favorite cycle is the Sanitary cycle. I end up using it when my son (who is potty training) has an accident. This way, I know the clothes are clean and sanitary. — —… read full review »

Had many problems with the older model, Sears was out practically every week to repair! We finally got it replaced with the new models. Luckily they have worked out many of the 'kinks' that the older models had. I liked the fact that I could wash many towels and jeans in a load, but hated when the cycle would 'freeze' or malfunction. Would not recommend the older… read full review »
