Kenmore Gas Range 78769 Review

When we first moved into our house, it came with an electric, mustard colored stove that was as old as the hills.  We kept it for awhile since we were spending money on other renovations at the time.  Three years ago we decided it was time to ditch it and get a more modern looking stove.  I did some research online and found that gas ranges seemed to be better due to the more even and controlled heat.  We went to Sears, where we buy most of our large appliance purchases and browsed until we came across the Kenmore Gas Range Model# 78769-Black. I was instantly attracted to the modern look and design.  Once we got all the information, we agreed that this was the gas range for us.  We paid $599.99 and I think that was a reasonable price for the many features it has and the durability.

My Experience

I absolutely love this gas range for many reasons.  The one touch oven controls are easy to read and feature an oven interior light pad, clock set pad, cook time pad, select self-clean pad, timer set/off pad, delay start pad, up and down arrow pads, bake pad, broil pad, warm & hold pad and a stop/clear pad.  There are oven, preheat & door locked lights and feature indicator lights that show which feature is in use. Whew!  There seem to be a lot but I have to say, I have used them all at one time or another.  The digital clock is bright and easy to read.  The timer alarm is loud enough for me to hear in another room.  The warmer drawer is especially handy when I make large or holiday meals with guests.  If I finish cooking one item before another is done, I just simply set it in the warmer drawer and turn it on to either HI, MED or LO and continue on with my other dishes. The window on the oven door is so large and the light is bright enough that I can check on what I'm baking without having to open the oven door. I could probably go on for several more paragraphs but I think you get the point.  I have owned this gas range for three years now and have not had one problem with it.  It works as good as it did on day one.     

My Final Viewpoint

This Gas Range is not only modern looking and attractive, it is durable as well.  The oven controls are convenient and the warming drawer is a great bonus.  The only negative thing that I can say about it is that cleaning the outside of the stove is a nightmare.  I can't blame the stove or company for this because it is solely the glossy black color that is causing me so much grief.  They had a stove that was black with a more matte finish that I should have bought but, live and learn right?  I recommend this Kenmore Gas Range but not in glossy black like we purchased. I give this stove an overall 5 star rating.
