I have a Kenmore Gas Freestanding Range and have the repair techs out several times.  I have just been informed that gas ovens are known for uneven cooking.  I highly recommend getting an electric oven or better, a convection oven for anyone who does alot of baking. This oven does not even heat to the proper temperature.  Half of the oven is the temperature set and parts of the oven - outside edges are about 80-100 degrees warmer.  The outside of EVERYTHING cooks immediately and the middle NEVER bakes at all.  I have even turned down the temperature and left items in for hours and the center of the cake/brownies/whatever NEVER bakes.  This is the worst oven I have ever had.  Also, the paint/coating on the display panel has come off and Sears repair service states that is normal wear and tear and not warranty items so I have a range that is all different colors and peeling on the top.  I will not buy a Kenmore range again I will go with a name brand product so I can deal with the manufacturer on the issues that arise.
