Kenmore Energy Star Elite Dishwasher 13153 —

I bought a suite of Kenmore Elite appliances at the end of 2007 and installed them in 2008. Although they are all very attractive and work OK, some of the features of this dishwasher are not working out for me. The bottom dishwasher rack has lots of upright closely spaced pins so soup and salad bowls do not stand upright and flop over each other. Also, it is difficult to wash a pot and serving bowls at the same time because there is only one section where the pins fold down. I have to constantly unload and reload items to get them to fit. Also, my dishes do not come out very clean even though I use a name brand dishwashing pillow packet. In fact, sometimes the packet does falls into the bottom of the dishwasher and does not dissolve and I have to rewash the load. Considering that I paid over $1100 for this machine, my old $300 Maytag does a better job and is easier to load. Also, the handle is beginning to loosen and a technician that came to fix my stove said the handle will loosen to the point where it cannot be repaired.

All articles I read, and my DW repairman, said to use powder detergent only. They are the only ones that work. In this case, it isn't the dw, it is the cleaning agent.
