Kenmore Elite Trio Review Summary

Not everyone is enthused about the Kenmore Elite Trio Refrigerator, as reviewers seem to be split down the middle with their opinions of it. Those that appreciate this Kenmore refrigerator feel it's a "great investment" for its roominess and different compartments, including one unique long and narrow drawer, that make it "not only easy to store lots of food, but also to see them." However, the Kenmore Elite Trio has its detractor as well. Reviewers are citing the melting of the plastic casing around the light bulb and the door sensors malfunctioning. Because of all of this, there is a recall on this Kenmore refrigerator, as reviewers warn "Buyers beware." In addition, other items have broken down in the Elite Trio such as the fan motor and water filter. It has these selection of reviewers saying "Never again!" Try these other Kenmore Elite Refrigerators which have much more positive reviews.

Kenmore Elite Trio Refrigerator

We've had our Kenmore Elite Trio Refrigerator for 5 years now and we're still convinced that it was a great investment.  This refrigerator is so roomy and has so many compartments and adjustments that make it not only easy to store lots of foods but also to see them.

I purchased a Kenmore Elite Trio refrigerator (model 795.7725)in December 2006. On Saturday, February 7, 2009, I opened my refrigerator door and noticed that the plastic casing around the light bulb was melted and sagging, the fridge was warm and the items on the top shelf were also starting to melt....

We purchase the Kenmore Eilte (model 795.77252600) in Aug 2006.  Less than 2yrs later, it malfunctioned.  The door sensors and lighting unit malfunctioned (almost caused a fire).  The cover housing the light bulbs melted due to the light not turning off after doors were closed.  Sears repaired it..for about $700.  It's been less than a year and we can't believe we're dealing with the same problem today.  I called Sears to check if there was a recall on these parts but they were no help.  I can't believe a fridge in this price range would have such poor design or manufacturing.  I...

My husband and I were in the market for new kitchen appliances for our new remodeling project. We looked at several other refrigerators and found that all the fridges in a french door, bottom freezer style lacked adequate space.  We stumbled on to the Kenmore Elite Trio and were amazed.  The layout of the fridge was perfect. It had adjustable sliding shelves (even one that was retractable to allow for taller items).  It includes 3 drawers, one of which is long and narrow, perfect for trays that I could never find a place for.  The lighting is a soft blue, and is recessed to allow for the best...

Many models have a recall on them due to a faulty housing mechanism causing FIRES.

OUR model is only 4 yrs old and already had to have the fan motor replaced to the tune of $250.00 and waiting all day on a repair person to come.

I strongly suggest that IF you buy this fridge, you get the extended warranty.
It's sad when you spend $2000 on an appliance and then only 4 yrs later have to start paying for repairs.

Sears/Kenmore/LG just doesn't make things like they used to.

This Refrigerator is awesome!  It's so roomy, I can't find enough Stuff at one time to put into it!  I love the deep adjustable shelving on the doors and the automatic icemaker and deep wells in the freezer compartment and the crisper drawers seem to me to keep all of my veggies and fruits fresher longer than usual.  I'm so glad that I purchased it.  Now I have to start having some dinner parties just to fill it completely.  Again, Awesome Appliance.

We just received our Kenmore Elite Trio.  The Trio has a lot of room in the refrigerator and the freezer, much more the our side by side.  It looks great, but now we have to replace our stove and dishwasher because they are not stainless.  I love the product, but find it hard to keep the stainless clean.  Of coarse I have three children under seven years old.  I notice its hard to open the french doors, I actually move the whole appliance when I do.  Overall we are happy with the appliance.

The Kenmore Elite Trio with water through the door is a great refrigerator.  The bottom freezer is easy to access - great for short people like me! - and is compartmentalized which helps with finding different items.  The only downside to the freezer is that if the ice container is almost full, ice cubes fall out when you open the freezer door.

Love the convenience of the french-door fridge and sliding shelves.  Perfect size for our small family and for stocking up for parties!  Highly recommend this over a counter-depth unit which is smaller inside.

The stainless steel front is nice looking,...

We have owned the Kenmore Elite Trio for less than three years.  While still under warranty we had problems with a mildew taste coming from the waterline.  They said it was the water filter and to replace it.  We did and it didn't help so I called back.  We were now a few days out of warranty therefore they wouldn't help.  Great service!  We have also had problems with the handles continuously loosening and a bin with a broken latch.  BUT the worst problem is occurring now.  Sometimes the interior light does not shut off and not only does it cause excessive heat (food loss) but it has also...

We bought the Kenmore Elite Trio model 795.7978 on July 2009 (right after we purchased our home). It was supposed to be the latest and greatest so we paid the high price thinking we were going to be trouble free. So far we have made two calls to service as the freezer (bottom left hand side as you are looking at it) continues to make so much frost and accumulate ice on the rail - this is so unreal.

The first time the repair person came and used a hairdryer to melt the ice and said that should fix it - I could have done that! And NO! It did not fix it. The second time - well the tech has not been...

Purchased Kenmore Elite purchase on Oct 2006. Loved the layout and room. But his month Sept 2009 woke up to light on in the refrigerator with housing melted and sagging. Additionally there was bubbled plastic and browning. All food lossed. We feel fortunate that that we were at home and that our house did not catch on fire.

Let me say that it was love at first sight, until I had to replace the motor (generator) and the motor fan at two different occasions. Plus my deli drawer already broke. My veggies get frozen, and no matter how much I try to set the temperature it is never right!

My freezer drawer can hardly be opened, because there is always ice on the rails, and when you finally get it open some ice cubes fall on the floor.

I'm not sure why the light of the refrigerator is always hot, and the side of one of the doors.

I bought my Kenmore at Sears in Miami, Fl. I live in Dominican Republic so I shipped...

We have the same problem with the lights staying on when the doors are closed. Sears is no help. They have quite the scam going - sell defective appliances at a premium price and then get more money in either extended warranties or service calls. I just took the lights out and now every time we open the doors to a dark refrigerator it is a reminder of why Sears will never again get any more money from us.
