Sears is terrible!  We purchased warranties on several appliances from them.  When calling the service department, be prepared to be on hold for awhile and to deal with incompetence.  The latest item is a Kenmore Elite Chest Freezer.  We have had nothing but problems with this item.  The alarm continually goes off on it, and when a service technician is called out, the tech is absolutely useless.  There was obviously something wrong with this freezer, but he claimed that there was nothing wrong with it.  Now that the freezer is not working at all, everything inside of it is rotten.  This time when calling the service / warranty department, the customer service rep hung up on us while trying to schedule a service appointment.  We had been on hold for 25 minutes and had to call back again only to be on hold again for 15 minutes before a service rep answered and told us to call back in an hour.  This is terrible customer serivce and we will not ever purchase one more thing from Sears, not even a bucket of paint.

I have never had such problems with service - my only gripe with service calls through Sears is that when you are given a date they say "between the hours of 8 and 5". If you are not able to answer their call before they leave the previous job, they will not leave a message, and you get cancelled until the next week. This causes a full day off of work, and often an entire day of sitting. I can't even go get the mail or take out the trash because my cordless won't pick up. Not everyone packs a portable cellular phone, and even if I had one who only knows in our area whether you will get signal at just the right moment!

Thank you, Courtney. We did try calling back today in an hour as the service rep suggested, but the phone lines were not working properly (actually, it was several hours later). We had similar problems with the dryer that we purchased last year.
