Kenmore Elite Dryer- Oasis Steam Review

We purchased our Kenmore Elite White Oasis ST 7.6 cu. ft. Capacity Gas Dryer on March 31st 09. I was excited to get this new dryer as I picked out what I thought was the top of the line kenmore dryer with the steam function. I have been disappointed in a few major areas, and majorly disappointed with Sears lack of concern for the issues I have brought up to them.

Installation
We had the Kenmore Elite White Oasis ST 7.6 cu. ft. Capacity Gas Dryer installed on April 2nd. I got a call that morning and was told that my supposed "multivent" dryer could not be vented on the right like it indicates on their website but only in the back. Ok so I gave up on that and bought an adapter from Lowes to make it work. I noticed though that there website still has not been corrected as of today. Aug 13th. So be aware that this dryer only vents in the back no matter what the info says

Using the dryer
The Kenmore Elite White Oasis ST 7.6 cu. ft. Capacity Gas Dryer works great to dry my clothes. It has multiple setting so that you can dry at many different temp options. It also has a sensor so that you can set it to dry more or less dry. It has signal that you can set to sound when it is damp dry for things you might want to dry for a little bit and then hang the rest of the way dry. It also has a steam setting to put a wrinkles piece of clothing in and set it to steam the wrinkles out. This functions works relatively well.

Features
The Kenmore Elite White Oasis ST 7.6 cu. ft. Capacity Gas Dryer has electronic controls. It has several automatic settings as well as a timed dry setting. It comes with a drying rack if you want to set a sweater flat on it and have the dryer drying it without tumbling the garment.

You can set the door to open from left to right or right to left. it has a digtal display to tell you how much longer it will be until your clothes are dry and there are plenty of options and modifiers.

The Kenmore Elite White Oasis ST 7.6 cu. ft. Capacity Gas Dryer has a jumbo sized drum which allows you to dry large comforters with ease. You do have to take them out and turn them around a couple times but it does a nice job. You can also do a very large load of laundry and dry all of it. I can put twice as much in this dryer as I could in my previous large capacity dryer.

The NOISE!!!!
This Kenmore Elite White Oasis ST 7.6 cu. ft. Capacity Gas Dryer rattles louder than any dryer that I have ever had. It seems worse on a lighter load. When I purchased it I was told it was quiet pak 2 which I assumed at some sort of protection from loud rattling. It literally is so loud it sounds like it is going to fall apart. I tried balancing it and all kinds of things to no avail so I called Sears for service

Service
I called service and got an appointment rather quickly. But the tech they sent out to my house was a complete "0" He basically told me that they make the dyers out of the cheapest metal they can find and that's why they are so loud. I asked about the quiet pak 2 and he said that was just a gimmick to get me to buy the washer. He went on to tell me that I wasted my money buying the top of the line Kenmore and should have just bought a cheaper dryer. He did nothing to see if there was a reason it was rattling....he made absolutely NO attempt to fix the problem. I was frustrated when he left and trying to decide whether we just put up with it or call service again.

A few days later I got an email to rate the service so I gave it a poor rating accross the board and at the end they asked if I wanted to be contacted so I clicked yes.

A couple weeks later I recieved a call from someone following up on my complaint. After explaining the whole mess for 30 minutes the guy wanted me to again call serive and set up a service call. I told him that she should set it up so I would not have to repeat myself again. He said he would have someone contact me. That never happened.

Currently my husband is going to try contacting their corporate office to see if they have any suggestions. I do not want to waste my time and trouble with their service dept anymore. I will update this after we hear back from them.

In the meantime I would not recommend the Kenmore Elite White Oasis ST 7.6 cu. ft. Capacity Gas Dryer. Even though it dries the clothes well the noise is more than normal and I would not be surprised if it caused something else to fail.
