If you live in downtown Chicago and are looking for a primary physician, I would recommend Dr Kellyn Marks. I have been going to her for the last several years and have been very pleased with they way she treats patients. Dr Marks is very thorough. She takes the time to ask questions and really listen to her patients. In a few instances where I have been impatient, she has been a rational and calming influence. She is cautious and comprehensive in her approach. While some doctors might rush you out of the examining room or off the phone because they have have a round of golf or vacation waiting, she does not seem like that to me.
She states her philosophy on her profile page as "Dr. Marks believes in an interactive physician-patient relationship and encourages patients to ask questions relating to their health care needs. " That is my kind of Doctor.
My wife goes to her as well and we both feel the same way. She is kind, thorough, responsive and comprehensive in her approach. I was recently reminded of how much I appreciate her approach when I had to go to another doctor in her practice. He did not follow up, he set unrealistic expectations about the amount of time follow up tests would take and was not very helpful in the initial visit.
Dr Marks is part of the Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group. According to their web site: "All NMPG physicians are Board Certified and members of the teaching faculty of Northwestern University Medical School. Every provider in the group has additional special medical interests and areas of expertise."
