Kellogg's Special K Chocolatey Delight Cereal Review

I have always loved Special K cereal.  Yeah, it's kind of boring but I really like the taste and that it's not horrible for me.  Then a few months ago I noticed that Special K came out with a bunch of new cereals with flavors like blueberry, vanilla almond, and Special K Chocolately Delight.  Being a chocolate lover, I had to give that one a try.  And now I'm hooked.

Chocolatey Delight seems to be the same old Special K flakes but a bit more toasted and with added sugar. It also contains small pieces of chocolate that are rectangular in shape and look like tiny Hershey bars.  

The first few bowls of Chocolatey Delight were a bit disappointing as I didn't seem to get much chocolate.  When I pulled the plastic bag out of the cereal box I noticed that most of the chocolate pieces settled to the bottom of the bag, so a quick shake of the bag combined the flakes and the chocolate pieces better for more even distribution.  In subsequent boxes I actually took the bag out and opened it from the bottom instead of the top so I could shake the chocolate around and distribute it around the whole bag.

I do love this cereal as it has more sweetness than regular SpecialK and eating chocolate for breakfast gives me a naughty-feeling start to the day. It is somewhat annoying that the chocolate sinks to the bottom of the bowl though.  I have to plan out my spoon scoops to make sure I get both flakes and chocolate otherwise I end up eating all the flakes and then am left with tons of chocolate at the bottom of the bowl.  Chocolately Delight is also somewhat expensive.  It's generally $3.99 a box at Kroger so I keep an eye out for sales and coupons then stock up.

Bottom Line - I love Special K Chocolatey Delight Cereal.  It is rather high maintenance in that I have to shake the bag around when pouring to get the right flake/chocolate distribution and have to think about how I dip my spoon into the bowl to make sure I get to the chocolate that's sunk to the bottom.  But I still love it. I'm so spoiled by this cereal that I no longer care for the original Special K.
