What is it about me and cereal?  I don't eat it as a breakfast meal.  I eat it in the evenings when I feel as if I am starving and need something light.  Whenever I run out I try to buy a new flavor.  Variety is the spice of life, right?  Well, a few weeks ago while perusing the cereal aisle at Walmart I came across Special K's new Blueberry flavor.  The box says it's naturally and artificially flavored crunchy, blueberry, rice and wheat flakes with oat and blueberry clusters.  I got a 15.5 oz. box for approximately $3.50.

The ingredients:

RICE, WHOLE GRAIN WHEAT, SUGAR, BLUEBERRY FLAVORED CLUSTERS (ROLLED OATS, SUGAR, CRISP RICE [RICE FLOUR, BROWN RICE FLOUR, SUGAR, DISTILLED MONOGLYCERIDES, MALT EXTRACT, SALT], BLUEBERRY FLAVORED BITS [SUGAR, CORN SYRUP, CORN CEREAL, MODIFIED WHEAT STARCH, MODIFIED CORN STARCH, SOYBEAN OIL, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, SALT, CELLULOSE GUM, RED #40, BLUE #2, GREEN#3, BLUE #1], CORN SYRUP, BLUEBERRY PUREE CONCENTRATE, NATURAL FLAVOR, SALT, RED #40 LAKE, BLUE #2 LAKE, BHT ADDED TO PRESERVE FRESHNESS), FRUIT FLAKES ([BLUEBERRIES AND APPLE PUREE], SUGAR, MODIFIED CORN STARCH, NATURAL FLAVORS, CITRIC ACID), HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, SALT, MALT FLAVORING, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C), REDUCED IRON, NIACINAMIDE, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B6), RIBOFLAVIN (VITAMIN B2), THIAMIN HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B1), VITAMIN A PALMITATE, BHT (PRESERVATIVE), FOLIC ACID, VITAMIN D, VITAMIN B12.

The Special K Blueberry flakes are a little larger than I expected.  The flakes are speckled with a blueberry flavor.  The oat and blueberry clusters are a good size and pack a powerful and flavorful crunch.  I usually don't like oat clusters nor do I eat fresh blueberries but with the two combined together I like these.  The rice and wheat flakes don't get too soggy when added to milk.  I think I eat less because of the size of the flakes.  It just appears like there is more in the bowl than you think.  When you bite into the flakes you are going to hear the sound of them crunching and when you get a bite of the blueberry cluster you will get a slight hint of blueberry juice as the clusters begin to dissolve.

Special K has always been associated with healthy eating.  This cereal is also part of the Special K Challenge that says if you follow their meal plans for 2 weeks you can lose up to 6 pounds.  I wouldn't know because I never follow anyone's meal plans.  The Special K Challenge worked for one of our writers.  Read her story here. But I like knowing that when I decide to have a bowl of cereal that I am doing my part to eat healthy.  The Special K Blueberry is found in most grocery stores now.  I guess you will pay between $2.79-3.89 for a box depending on the store and the size, 11.5 oz. or 15.5 oz.

Special K cereals are manufactured in the USA and the boxes are made from 100% recyclable paperboard.

Fantastic cereal! I agree with everything you said. It kick's Post's Blueberry Morning's butt. Hopefully, it can reduce mine. :-)

I saw that Hannah Montana cereal in the grocery store the other day and wondered if my sister got it for my niece. I ♥ the Cap'n Crunch Berry and Peanut Butter.

We got good results when we offered this to the children. Our latest: Did you know they now have a Hannah Montana cereal? It's a must have for households with children ;+) I think it tastes like Cap 'n Crunch berries.

This sounds like really nice cereal, if maybe a little crunchier than I am "into" nowadays. Very nice calorie count and economical too! Good review, Gigi!

They're not coated in anything. The flakes are made from rice and wheat and you can see dark blue dots throughout which let you know you are getting the blueberry flavor in every bite!

This sounds like something I would eat as long as the flakes are not coated in something. Nice review!
