Kellogg's - Smart Start Healthy Heart Bars Review

I have high cholesterol and my husband has high blood pressure.  We have been trying to eat healthier meals as well as healthier snacks.  It's difficult to find a snack that is good for us and tastes good too.  My sister introduced us to Kellogg's - Smart Start Healthy Heart Bars and not only do we love them, our children do too!

About these bars...

Kellogg's claims that these bars contain ingredients that can help lower both blood pressure and cholesterol.  They are naturally and artificially flavored, contain oat bran, potassium, and low sodium.  There are 2g of dietary fiber, 3g of protein, 350mg of potassium and 0 cholesterol.  Each bar is 150 calories and although there is 2.5g of fat, these bars do not contain any Trans fat.  They also contain 10% daily values of vitamins A, B6, B12 and of Thiamin, Niacin, Folic Acid and Riboflavin as well as 4% of Iron.

What we think about them...

My sister bought a package of six boxes of the Strawberry Vanilla flavor and gave us a box to try.  I was skeptical, as I always am whenever the word "healthy" is in the description.  The bars are 1.41 oz. that I think is a good size for a snack bar.  The texture of these bars resembles Rice Crispy Treats and kind of taste a little like them too.  They are chewy but the oats give them a nice crunch and the taste is quite good but very sweet.  That would probably be why my children also like these.  They are healthier than the Rice Crispy Treats that they normally eat so I have no problem letting them snack on these. A box of 6 bars run around $3.29.

My final viewpoint...

Kellogg's - Smart Start Healthy Heart Bars are not only great tasting but also have health benefits.  They are affordable and my whole family loves them.  I recommend them but if you are someone who doesn't like sweet snacks, these might not be for you.  I am giving these bars a 4 star rating.
