One of the treats we get for our sweet Cockatiels is the Kaytee Honey Treat Sticks once a month. They love these things and also like playing with them. Yes they play with them but more on that in a minute.

Kaytee Honey Treat Sticks

These treats are about an inch in diameter and 7 1/2 inches long. The base of them if you will is a piece of plastic that will bend slightly and attaches to the bars on the side of the cage. Once you put them in they look like a short perch, but they are edible. They have all the goodies that birds love and are coated with honey. Things like grass seed, millet and other goodies all compacted into a roll with a plastic center to hold them in place.

I have to laugh at them every time we give them this treat bar as once they get it all gone the use the plastic stick as a play toy. Cricket (our Yellow and orange male) loves to pick on the girls and act all macho. Well he will sit on the stick and squawk at the girls. Well Baby Girl (our oldest one) will sneak up on him and pounce on the very end, then jump off......OMG! Cricket always goes for a spin and lands on the bottom of the cage! Then he just shakes his head and tries to act like nothing happened. I love my puppies they are lovable and a lot of fun to have around.

Bottom Line

For a monthly treat these Kaytee Honey Treat Sticks just can't be beat at any price. Our Cockatiels love them and I love giving them this treat! It cost me about $8 a month to treat them to something special and they are worth every penny I spend on them. I have even taught them to say "Good Night" well they don't talk but when I tell them Night Night, they chirp twice as if they were talking back to me. They whistle for the dogs, dance for me and keep me company during the day. You can't ask for any more than that and I treat them like they were royalty!

oh my..lol Our dogs are always chasing bunnies and squirrels around the yard. We don't let our cat out because she is declawed ;)

I am going to drive my cat nuts yet with me feeding wild bunnies, birds and oh we had another cat stop by this morning too and had a bite to eat. Told her she wasn't even two yet so no boyfriends or friends around when we weren't!

the one male we rescued will bite everybody except me......he talks to me but I haven't got him hand trained....yet! I love them and I wouldn't trade them for the world. ;) Wild birds? maybe...if you have a place by a window you could try...;)

"They whistle for the dogs, dance for me and keep me company during the day." Huh. Sounds like they make an even better pet than women do. (ducking to avoid hurled hairspray cans)

Oh your birds sound like fun. I wonder if this would be a good treat for outdoor birds.

yeah they need a lot of attention, I try to get them out whenever I can. Two are hand trained but the other two are not. The two that aren't are rescued birds, their owners didn't want them anymore so we took them in. ;) Ron

I had a Cockateil. Got Capricorn (the name suggests why I got him/her) but the bird didn't come with a cleaning the cage gift. Our cocker spaniel hated Capricorn. We had him/her for several years and before we moved we gave him/her to friends whose daughter loves birds. I'm sure he's having a better life than the one with us! I just never liked touching him when we did let him out of his cage. I still feel guilty! Jo
