My doctor told me that I should be taking Omega-3 and should increase my overall nutritional intake.  I figured I would start with my breakfast cereal.  I decided to try Kashi Go Lean Crunch Cereal.  I purchased the 15 oz. box of the Honey Almond Flax flavor for only $2.98. Kashi Go Lean cereal also comes in the original flavor of honey and cinnamon.

The Facts

  • Low fat; 200 calories per cup
  • 9 grams protein, 8 grams fiber, 500mg Omega-3
  • Made from seven whole grains & sesame

My Experience

I was eager to try this cereal because I have heard so many good things about the Kashi brand.  The amount of Omega-3, protein and fiber that is contained in this cereal is impressive.  Although eager to try it, I was a bit apprehensive about what this cereal would taste like.  There aren't many things out there that are good for you that also have a good flavor.  These crunchy clusters had a sweet honey almond flavor that I really liked.  The "hearty crunch" though as the box describes is a bit of an understatement.  Some of the larger clusters were like chewing glass.  They were so hard that I literally hurt my back tooth.  Regardless of the few very hard clusters, I do like the taste, often eat this cereal as a dry snack, and even add it to yogurt.

My Final Viewpoint

Kashi Go Lean Crunch Cereal is a nutritional healthy cereal that tastes good enough to eat just as a snack. If you have problems with your teeth though and aren't able to chew hard foods, you might want to avoid this cereal.  To all others, I do recommend it and I am giving it a 3 star rating.

I received a free sample and yes I feared my teeth were in danger...this is why I switched to grape nut flakes...

This is a really yummy cereal but I agree on the extra crunch. Wow. The first time I ate it I think I bled. Ouch. My mom heats hers up in the micro first and it softens it a little. That might help if you don't mind warm cereal and milk. I just let mine sit a little to soften up.

Great review...I'm following you around. This is on my list of things to review. Sometimes I just feel paralyzed or so tired and do nothing! Jo
