Waffles are a delicious form of breakfast (or any other meal for that matter) but they are usually so rich that sometimes you end up feeling overly-sated and sleepy for a while afterward. Now the famous Kashi Company has come up with a waffle we can feel good about eating ... Kashi GoLean Waffles. These fresh warm breakfast goodies come in several flavors of which I chose Blueberry. They pack the great nutritional punch found in Kashi cereals and deliver this in a product which fortifies and satisfies you for hours without putting your feet to sleep. A six pack of these waffles is a bit expensive -- $3.99 -- but there is a great coupon out there online for $1.50 off.
INGREDIENTS:
Kashi GoLean Blueberry Waffles contain (among other things): water, unbleached/unenriched wheat flour, whole wheat flour, wild blueberries, soy protein isolate, evaporated cane juice (no high fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated oils), red wheat bran, oat fiber, expeller pressed canola oil, chicory root fiber, Kashi Seven Whole Grains & Sesame Flour (Stone Ground Whole: oats, hard red winter wheat, long grain brown rice, rye, triticale, barley, buckwheat, sesame seeds), baking powder, natural flavors, soy lecithin, egg white powder and whey powder.
STATS:
Two waffles comprise a single serving which contains 170 calories with 25 calories from fat. There are 3 grams Total Ft, zero Saturated Fat and Cholesterol, 300 mg. Sodium, 130 grams Potassium, 33 grams Total Carbs, 6 grams Dietary Fiber, 4 grams Sugars and 8 grams Protein in addition to 6% (D.V.) Calcium and 8% Iron. Their high protein and fiber is supposed to curb cravings and provide strength for healthy dieting, exercise, building muscle and reducing fat. Kashi GoLean Blueberry Waffles can be used as part of the Kashi GoLean Diet Plan.
TASTE TIP:
These waffles make a wonderful brunch. Preparation instructions suggest toasting Kashi GoLean Blueberry Waffles but I like to microwave them for about a minute instead until they are still soft but warm enough to melt a thin spread of Promise Buttery Spread topped with fresh Michigan blueberries and some Froth au Lait Vanilla Syrup. The perfect complement to the sweetness of this meal are three or four Jennie-O Mild Turkey Breakfast Sausages and a can of Campbell's Tomato Juice.
