This unique knife holder is made of rods that are "FDA approved food-grade plastic". The inner core that holds the knives can be removed and washed in the dishwasher. It's fun discovering how many knives one can stick into the holder.  I found this item on many different websites for a standard price. I was able to see it in person and purchase it at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I used their 20% off coupon...making it an even better bargain.
