Kaplan University - Kaplan University Review Summary

Education continues to rank highly on everyone’s list of important achievements, but many adults are too busy to reach the educational attainment they would like. With Kaplan University, education is just a mouse click away and the online component of this university ranks as its greatest asset. Reviewers of Kaplan University also like that the cost of books is included in the site and they enjoy the convenience. But some reviewers do not like Kaplan online, chiefly because of the cost and the amount of time it takes to complete the program. Comments range from “Kaplan University Provides a Great Education” to “Overpriced for the Lack of Education You Receive”. It adds up to a mixed experience with Kaplan University and potential students would be wise to consider other Colleges and Universities before making a final decision.

My wife and I decided to go back to school a year or so ago. She was interested in a degree in business and I wanted to get a degree in IT/Network Administration. We spent hours every day researching and talking to advisors from different on line colleges. FInally, we settled on Kaplan University, as... read full review »

When I enrolled in their online college I was told text books would be included with fees. Well the college decided that students don't need text books and went to an E-course format. Which means they had the teachers write the information that they thought was relevant to the course. Then the student printed out these "e-course" hand books. These could be anywhere from 5 pages to hundreds of pages. I would have to buy reams of paper and new printer carts after each term of school. As a paralegal I need my text books for future reference. How can I maintain piles of paper over a lifetime?

I have been a KU student for over a year now, scheduled to graduate July 2009, and I cannot say enough about it!  I am a fulltime Mom of three teenagers, working fulltime as well, and find the flexibility of online classes to be just what I need.  I completed an Associate's Degree at a local community college and am now pursuing an Advanced Start Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Human Resource Management.  The Advanced Start means I was able to transfer in my Associate's Degree credits, allowing me to start at KU halfway through my Bachelor's Degree.

Online college... read full review »

I have gone to Kaplan for the last three years. In November 2006 I was awarded for Deans honors list for having a high GPA. I am majoring in Bachelors in information in technology and design. Every year they seem to add something new. I find the classes are what I need to achieve my bachelors and better my knowledge. The books arrive two weeks before start date if you enroll in time. Instead of taking five years like a onsite campus here its only going to take four years to graduate. You dont have to only take one or two classes but you can take three to graduate even earlier. But people are right... read full review »

All colleges can teach a subject. But what makes Kaplan University online degrees and distance learning programs unique is our emphasis on teaching you how to absorb and apply the real-world knowledge that will be meaningful in your professional life.

It's a philosophy born of the belief that knowledge is freedom. That the right knowledge provides you freedom to grow, to achieve your goals, to help you navigate and excel in your profession, and in your life.

When you're educated at Kaplan University, you don't just learn to memorize, you learn what you won't learn anywhere else... how to educate... read full review »

I started attending Kaplan University online in August 2004. I really enjoyed all my classes, professors, and classmates.

The only gripe I have consists of the financial aid/student accounts and accedemic advisors. I should be graduating April 2008 and I should be excited. I learned from my online statement that I still owe an additional $1700. This is after my student loans and paying average of $100 per month out of pocket. When requesting information on this balance, no one is available. I left several messages with my financial aid officer, student accounts, sent e-mails however no one has... read full review »

Kaplan University is an excellent place for anyone who has a limited schedule.  You have the ability to work school into your life!  The instructors truly care and are understanding.  The classes are interesting and apply to the workplace.  There are a variety of majors that you can choose from.  I think the Communication major is the most interesting.

The best part of Kaplan University is that once a week during a class, there is a live seminar.  The professors lead a discussion live on the internet about a topic for the week.  This makes the school feel like a connected community. You... read full review »

Kaplan University is one of the biggest jokes around. The cost is outrageous, the lessons are too hard to follow along, and most of all, you dont leave there with anymore knowledge then when you went in. When people enter college at a later stage in their life, most often have children. Kaplan does not offer childcare, and the price of chiidcare is expensive. How can anyone afford to go to that school and still afford to raise a family. I spent 2 years there and I have put myself in more debt than what was calculated for me. My advise, dont waste the money and time unless you like being financially... read full review »

I am a social worker who works w/ low-income families and many of my clients have returned to school @ Kaplan or looked into it.  The recruitment staff is pushy and talks people into signing a contract to enroll.  They misrepresent the degrees that you will earn, and the price is much higher than if someone were to attend a 2 or 4-year college.  I learned that  an instructor  was told to teach the classes to a 10th grade level, which is not acceptable in my mind for anywhere calling itself a university.

Kaplan University is a great place to get an online education.  It is possible to study, no matter where you are.  If you go on vacation or have to work away from home, you can still get your classwork done.  There are great programs that you can study in.  I recommend the Legal Studies Program.  Students get their education from both reading and doing assignments as well as real time lectures or "seminars" once a week.  There is a lot of attention given to students.

I decided to go back to school to get my masters. I was trying to work and still have a life as well as find a great program.  Kaplan was perfrect for me becuase it allowed me that freedom.  I began my program of a Masters in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in math in January of 2007 and I will complete my degree in May 2008.  I made the Dean's list each term and I have to say it wasn't very difficult.  The coarse and load and quality were great.

this is one of the most versatile and most resourseful universites.

the courses are elaborate and the professors are quite friendly and understanding.

vast number of courses and options are available.

the online modules are also extremely good and one of the best in the country.

it follows a culture of openness and academic advisors are easily available for help.

Kaplan University is an excellent school to attend. All of their staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Online schooling at Kaplan is a great way for anyone to further their education even if life has already consumed them. As a wife and mother of four, I was nervous about going back to school, but Kaplan has not only made it easy but very enjoyable as well.
