Kansas State University Review Summary

Manhattan might invoke visions of skyscrapers, but to Kansas State University alumni, it means something entirely different. Manhattan is the city in Kansas where Kansas State University is located and reviewers find many solid reasons to like this university. It is more affordable than most other universities, offers great sports entertainment and student activities, and offers excellent job placement, particularly for engineers. Kansas State University is “One of the Best Schools Around” and it offers a “Great Education in Awesome Environment”. Sure, Mahattan Kansas isn’t quite that same as Manhattan New York and the small city atmosphere is a possible strike against Kansas State University. But it is still a very good Educational Institution with a solid engineering department and many good academic programs and other educational assets that make it a school worth considering.

Without knowing the reader's pre-conceptions about Kansas, it is hard to know where to start.  Flat?  I guess. But I've lived in Colorado, Utah, Idaho and Virginia and I thought K-State nesteled in the Flint Hills was beautiful.  Square/Backward?  Nope.  Get over it.  Kansas has natural beauty, great people, snobless appeal and great universities.

The Engineering program at KSU is very highly rated and rightly so.  The school was the first Land Grant College and has a history as an Ag and Engineering campus.  It earned it.  The programs in civil, mechanical, agricultural, electrical, industrial,...

Our son wanted to find a great school for Hotel and Restaurant Management. When he was talking to a school on the east coast the people asked him why come here when you are so near to KSU? It turns out KSU is one of the top ranked schools for Hotel and Restaurant Management. Our son is in his 2nd year in the program. He is considering  a semester in Australia as part of an exchange program. The school has been a great place for him to grow and learn. The $$$ value is excellent.

THis is the WRONG place for you. Fans are down on the football team now but I've been a fan since seeing us score a safety in the first 2 minutes of the game against Nebraska back in 1985. That was an occasion to celebrate, as we actually scored against them instead of it being a blowout.

This review is mostly based on friends and relatives who have gone there.

The school has little competition because if you are in Kansas you either go there or the University of Kansas (KU) unless you are a real go-getter and apply to Harvard.

One person I knew applied to medical school and Kansas State puts a roadblock to that.  While many schools have advisors, Kansas State has a pre-med committee that will say that they don't recommend certain students.  Who are they to judge because they don't even have a medical school themselves.

The place is hot and somewhat isolated.  It is close...
