Without knowing the reader's pre-conceptions about Kansas, it is hard to know where to start. Flat? I guess. But I've lived in Colorado, Utah, Idaho and Virginia and I thought K-State nesteled in the Flint Hills was beautiful. Square/Backward? Nope. Get over it. Kansas has natural beauty, great people, snobless appeal and great universities.

review »Our son wanted to find a great school for Hotel and Restaurant Management. When he was talking to a school on the east coast the people asked him why come here when you are so near to KSU? It turns out KSU is one of the top ranked schools for Hotel and Restaurant Management. Our son is in his 2nd year in the program. He is considering a semester in Australia as part of an exchange program. The school has been a great place for him to grow and learn. The $$$ value is excellent.
This review is mostly based on friends and relatives who have gone there.
The school has little competition because if you are in Kansas you either go there or the University of Kansas (KU) unless you are a real go-getter and apply to Harvard.
One person I knew applied to medical school and Kansas State puts a roadblock to that. While many schools have advisors, Kansas State has a pre-med committee that will say that they don't recommend certain students. Who are they to judge because they don't even have a medical school themselves.
The place is hot and somewhat isolated. It is close...
