This review is mostly based on friends and relatives who have gone there.
The school has little competition because if you are in Kansas you either go there or the University of Kansas (KU) unless you are a real go-getter and apply to Harvard.
One person I knew applied to medical school and Kansas State puts a roadblock to that. While many schools have advisors, Kansas State has a pre-med committee that will say that they don't recommend certain students. Who are they to judge because they don't even have a medical school themselves.
The place is hot and somewhat isolated. It is close to Junction City, that's where Timothy McVeigh lived. As far as tourism, one of the early Pizza Huts is nearby the campus.
There are a lot of majors that they offer so if you end up there, it's not so bad. There is no airport nearby (150 miles away) except they do have an airport served by a little airline.
