We got this phone for our 12 y/o son a little over a year ago and wouldn't tried it for anything. We are able to put as much money on the phone as we want and when he runs out we don't have to worry about overage charges. I also like the fact that I can restrict the hours he is allowed to use the phone. He is unable to use during school hours and after 9pm. I can't say enough about this phone!!
