I really like this springform cake pan. In my opinion, the worst part about baking a cake, bars or brownies is getting it out of the pan and onto a serving platter without messing it up. That is why I like this pan. After you take it out of the oven and it is cooled off, you release the catch and the sides just peal right off without damaging the cake!
I usually don't even transfer it to another serving plate, because the bottom of the pan is very sturdy and stable enough to serve off of. The bottom plate has about an inch all around the cake, so you can carry it by the sides, and not just by the bottom.
I am also partial to nonstick pans, and this one is no exception. My cakes and cheesecakes don't stick to the sides or bottom of the pan, and it is super easy to clean. The insert that came with it said that it is dishwasher safe, but I have found that if you don't rinse off every particle of food, the dishwasher will just "bake" it on the pan. Consequently, I always wash this pan by hand.
If you are taking 2 cakes out of the house, I would suggest using two springform pans. These pans balance on top of one another better than regular cake pans because the bottom plate is larger than the open face of the pan.
