Unique and fun building set.

5

My kids have several different kinds of building sets but Lincoln Logs is definitely the favorite. The others are so much like one another so they get boring but Lincoln Logs are unique and the way you build with them sets them apart. My kids have a lot of fun building with these. I have seen other sets trying to compete with these but I would stick with the original Lincoln Logs. The quality is the best and there are a few extra sets you can buy to add to the collection. I would recommend.

K'nex Lincoln Logs are a Classic Good Time!

K'nex Lincoln Logs are a Classic Good Time! They were around when I was a child and my brother, sister, and I loved these! My aunt and uncle had some that we would play with evertime that we visited. Now my children and nieces love Lincoln Logs just as much as we did back then. With K'nex Lincoln Logs your child (or even you) can use their imagination to build and be as creative as they can be. It is endless what you can build or design with these, and they supply hour upon hour of play. We love the reusable storage container that the kids can clean up and keep their logs together in. I love that Lincoln Logs are not like the newer toys of today and have so many things going on like sounds and lights. It is amazing to me how something as simple as Lincoln Logs can grab a childs attention and hold it as well as they do when there are so many other "fancy" things on the market. The price is not bad for the amount of play that your child will get out of these.

Lincoln Logs are a great classic toy

My husband and I love having gender neutral toys in our house that encourage imagination and are not loud and obnoxious. Lincoln Logs are great, they are wooden (no BPA worries), they are virtually indestrucable, and they encourage hours of imaginative play that also develops fine motor skills. My son will sit for hours and build all sorts of things (dinosaur garages, houses, garages, etc). My son does sometimes get frustrated that Lincoln Logs are not as flexible as duplos (you can only connect in certain places vs along the block with duplos), they are definately a switch in building styles, but it also forces him to think more about how things connect more as well! I wish the set came with more pieces, especially longer ones, but that is my only complaint. With this set, you can only build small structures. However, you can easily add more sets to your collection to expand the set and create bigger and better items!!

Great toy for the kids

5

Lincoln logs are another variant of children's building and construction toys. Legos a lot of the time steal the show, and rightfully so since Legos are a really good toy for kids, but Lincoln logs are great for younger kids. The logs are extremely soft and rounded. There is no splintering or any means of getting hurt. They are a very safe children's toy. The logs have little valleys carved out of them, which allows the logs to be stack on one another, although in a limited way. With the construction methods available for Lincoln Logs, you can construct towers by following a repeating pattern or you can build a cabin following the same method. They do not allow very flexible building but for the age group that this is aimed for, Lincoln Logs' limitation should just be accepted. The one problem is that a small hit or even a small gust of wind can actually knock the lincoln logs down since there is no actual locking mechanism for the lincol logs. they are just held together really by cavities/space pits and gravity.

Lincoln Logs are fantastic

I am very impressed with Lincoln Logs. They are such a basic, classic toy, but they foster so much creativity with children. I love that Lincoln Logs are a toy where children can build whatever is in their minds and encourage them to be creative. It is refreshing to have a toy that does not require batteries, does not make loud and annoying noises, and helps my kids use their imaginations. I have seen both boys and girls enjoy this toy and I have seen kids of many ages enjoy using them as well. I wouldn't recommend them for babies or toddlers because they do have small pieces that could be choking hazards. The worst part about Lincoln Logs is that they are not super sturdy if you build a big building. They don't connect like legos, so they are easier to knock over, which can be frustrating for the kids (and who am I kidding, the adults who are helping them!). But overall, I would recommend these for any kids as they are great for improving motor skills and encouraging creativity.

nice log toys

I have always bought my children lincoln logs to play with because they are very creative and they offer something different from television and video games. This set of lincoln logs was given to my kids by a friend and they love playing with them. Building the buildings is fun and it is something different that they have not done before with the other toys they have. Another plus to this set of logs is that my kids are able to make a whole village of cabins. It means I need to buy more sets of lincoln logs, but they are well worth the price. When the cousins come over, I find that the baby chews on the logs so I would probably recommend to keep them away from small children because of a choking hazard. My kids like to pretend that they are carpenters when they play with these logs. The price of the logs is not cheap in my opinion, but they last a very long time and they are very durable so they end up paying for themselves in the long run.

Classic toy--great fun

My kids have two different sets of Lincoln Logs and absolutely love them.  These are toys I remember playing with when I was a young kid.  I loved building log cabins.  It's one of those toys that are classic--they will probably be loved forever.  They come with instructions on how to build different structures, but you can also use your imagination to build whatever you want.  It encourages creative play and imagination, and the lincoln logs are pretty easy to figure out how to put together--my kids caught on pretty quick about lining up the grooves in the logs.  Another big bonus with this toy is they come with a nice box (or can) that holds all of the pieces very well, and it is not hard to clean up.  You can just gather up the pieces and throw them in the box or can.  Even my one year old can do it.  Another good thing about this toy is that it is one of those great rare toys nowadays that doesn't require batteries.  Definitely a keeper!

Great classic toy

I've only been a parent for 4 years or so.  One of the things I most looked forward to when I became a parent was looking for toys for the kids.  As I walked through the aisles of toys-r-us however I became very disheartened.  So many toys today require no thought or creativity on the childs part.  All the child has to do is sit there and wait to be entertained by battery powered lights, bells and whistles.  That is why I was so happy to find an old childhood favorite of mine, LINCOLN LOGS!!!!  I love the fact that this toy teaches kids spatial relationships, building, and fine motor skills.  Both my four year old son and my 17 month old daughter could sit there for hours and happily play with their lincoln logs.  My son builds the buildings and my daughter rips them down.  My son would probably complain that they fall down to easily but he still loves them.  My only complaint is that the pieces tend to get lost very easy but I guess that is the nature of the beast when it comes to a toy like this one.

Can't beat Lincoln Logs for creativity and imagination.

Most toys preclude imagination nowadays. Old fashioned Lincoln Logs allow children to create whatever it is they are interested in - cars, houses, villages, weapons, tools, animals - you name it. My niece played with Lincoln Logs for hours at a time, as did I when I was young.
