Enjoyed juno internet service until I tried to cancel

**I subscribed to Juno for years and years, and had good service.  When I moved and needed to cancel service, it was difficult to contact the company (not easy to assess their phone number).  ** **Once I reached Juno, I kept being told that they would disconnect me - for 3 months.  Over and over again, I heard 3 months.  I kept asking what she meant.  I would get responses like,                                                                                                                         "We want you to be protected with anti-virus software, so want you to be safe by continuing this service, so in 3 months.........(I would continue having anti-virus service for a fee).". ** **I kept explaining that I wanted to totally discontinue service and was told                    "We notice you use your email frequently and you can continue to use, then in three months.......(they would continue email service for a fee).** **I could never get the person to totally disconnect me and so I had to change my credit card number associated with the account.  Only for this reason, I would not recommend Juno and will not use again.**

Horrible Service - Juno

1

Constantly states that all access numbers are busy, when I do get a connection it is very short lived and terribly slow.  Customer service is horrible and uncooperative.  The billing department is horrendous, they're unorganized, and good communication skills are nonexistent.  Trying to cancel is a nightmare, and they will try to take all money they can get away with. When I started with Juno several years ago, they were an excellent company, with relatively fast dial up, now in the past year everything has gone downhill and just getting worse with no sign of improvement anywhere in the future.  They went from being a caring, concerned, customer oriented company to an unconcerned, poor quality, money grabbing business.

How do I get out of this? Deceptive practices

1

My mother used NetZero for a few months but then upgraded to ATT DSL. I just attempted to help her cancel her NetZero account.  What a nightmare. First, I had to call an 800 number and sit on hold for several minutes.  Then, I had to communicate with a representative who isn't a native English speaker.  Finally, when I made it clear to her that I really want to cancel and that I don't want any other services or billing, she said we'll give you a free month of backup service just in case your DSL has any problems, OK?  I said, I want to cancel my NetZero account.  She said, this is a free service.  For one month we'll offer you this free backup service - blah, blah, blah, OK?  I said, I don't want to pay for anything.  She said it's free and runs through Sept 26.  I said, OK, just cancel my account. Well, I received a confirmation email that said congratulations on your NetZero upgrade.  It didn't mention anything about me cancelling my account. I called back, waited for a rep who doesn't speak native English, and told him that I just tried to cancel my account and instead was notified that I'd upgraded.  He looks up the records from the previous phone call and said that I had been marked as cancelling NetZero dial-up and that I wanted the free month of backup service.  I said on September 27 if we do nothing will you take $4.95 from my account for this "backup service"?  He said if you're not pleased after your month of free service you can cancel it.  I said, no, I want it cancelled NOW!  I don't want to see any other billing from NetZero. I asked for a cancellation number and an email confirmation.  He gave me the cancellation number, but I have yet to see an email confirming that the account is closed. Can anyone teach me any derogatory words that a representative living in India would understand?  Especially, how do you say "liar" and "thief"?

Why pay more for the same service?

5

There are many internet service providers (ISPs) to choose from these days.  While the quality of most ISPs is similar, the cost can vary from free to $30/month (or even more).  I have tried several ISPs and have found Juno and Net Zero (same company now) to provide the best value.  You simply get the same service (or better) for a lower price.Juno seems to work just as fast and just as well as any other provider.  Juno provides all or most of the same helpful tools as other providers.  Juno costs less than most of the popular providers - AOL, MSN, Earthlink included.  Juno matches speed with other providers.I can't think of any reason to pay $20 or $30 per month vs. $5 to $10 per month for the same service.  Try Juno and see if you don't agree!

Sorry I added Service

Slower than sameDSL service elsewhere. Cheaper so you get what you pay for. After signing up, I was told of additional fees. I will keep the service for the year because I do not want to pay the early cancellation fee. I am lucky to be able to use the computer at work or a public library. This is what I get for trying to save a few pennies.

Slow internet

2

I had to use Netzero internet for years growing up, and it was so dreadfully slow and inconsistent. I guess all dial-up internet is slow, but Netzero would also often cut me off and seemed to malfunction especially often at night, which was extremely frustrating. It was kind of hit-or-miss to see if it would even work at night. Eventually, they upgraded us to high-speed internet, which was a real joke, because I couldn't notice any discernable difference in speed in comparison with the original dial-up Netzero service. I would not recommend Netzero at all. It cost 9.95 a month for the high-speed dial-up (I think we got it at a promotional rate, down from the original price of 14.95/month). Now, I pay 14.99/month for ATT DSL internet, so, definitely, for the extra 5 dollars a month, I am enjoying much better internet. Granted, this is also a promotional price, but it's so much better than Netzero.

NetZero is a criminal enterprise!

1

Working Net Zero has been a nightmare! I used them for several months with no major problems, but once I decided to upgrade to another company with DSL they (Net Zero) "refused" to cancel my account. The stated they canceled and provided a confirmation number, but two (2) months later they started to bill me again (charged on my credit card). When I called customer service I was informed they had (on their on without my authorization) signed me up for a different service package. I was very clear when I first called I was not interested in any further service. I will be checking with an attorney, but **making a fraudulent charge on a credit card is a criminal act.**

Horrible customer service right off the bat

1

I current have internet service with Comcast, but I received a flyer from NetZero in the mail and decided to call them as their price are very competitive. This lady on the other line started to "vomit" all the information, I barely could ask any question and she asked my information to start an account.. I told her that I was calling to get all the information I needed first, but that I didn't want to set up an account right that moment because I still have another internet service provider and I wanted to cancel that first and I also needed to discuss that change with my boyfriend before I do anything. She SIMPLY HUNG UP ON ME!!!  Seriously?.. I called again and the same thing happened, the second lady just started to say all the information non-stop. I said "I'm sorry to interrupt you but I just called and already heard all that but..." and I told her what had happened. That I believed the other woman hung up on me because I didn't want to create an account yet and I explained to her why but that I still had some questions. She answered my question and the next second she told me I needed to create an account. hu? She even said she would give 2 months free if I set up the account with her at that moment. When I said: no, thank you! She said "thank you for calling NetZero, have a great day". Well, at least she didn't hang up on my face, but that was an "almost". I'm writing this in detail because I seriously expect someone inside NetZero to do something about their horrible customer service. I called today (02/04) at 15:13 and 15:14. I don't know if those employees make commissions on each new account and that's why they hang up on you if you don't set up an account when you call, but that's what it seems like. I was ready to switch to NetZero because obbiously they have the best price, I'd pay 1/3 of what I'm paying right now but how am I gonna rely on them? What if I have a problem with them in the future? Is that how they are gonna help me out? Their customer service sucks!
