My mother used NetZero for a few months but then upgraded to ATT DSL.
I just attempted to help her cancel her NetZero account. What a nightmare.
First, I had to call an 800 number and sit on hold for several minutes. Then, I had to communicate with a representative who isn't a native English speaker. Finally, when I made it clear to her that I really want to cancel and that I don't want any other services or billing, she said we'll give you a free month of backup service just in case your DSL has any problems, OK? I said, I want to cancel my NetZero account. She said, this is a free service. For one month we'll offer you this free backup service - blah, blah, blah, OK? I said, I don't want to pay for anything. She said it's free and runs through Sept 26. I said, OK, just cancel my account.
Well, I received a confirmation email that said congratulations on your NetZero upgrade. It didn't mention anything about me cancelling my account.
I called back, waited for a rep who doesn't speak native English, and told him that I just tried to cancel my account and instead was notified that I'd upgraded. He looks up the records from the previous phone call and said that I had been marked as cancelling NetZero dial-up and that I wanted the free month of backup service. I said on September 27 if we do nothing will you take $4.95 from my account for this "backup service"? He said if you're not pleased after your month of free service you can cancel it. I said, no, I want it cancelled NOW! I don't want to see any other billing from NetZero.
I asked for a cancellation number and an email confirmation. He gave me the cancellation number, but I have yet to see an email confirming that the account is closed.
Can anyone teach me any derogatory words that a representative living in India would understand? Especially, how do you say "liar" and "thief"?
