I've been waiting to see this movie since it was out in theaters. I'd say it was worth the wait. Juno is an innovative movie, one that others could really learn a lesson from. The comedy in the movie is delivered in a way that is so serious, you wonder if they were even joking at all.
Ellen Page does a terrific job as Juno, a very intelligent teenage girl who finds herself pregnant after a one-time encounter with Paulie Bleeker, a boy she calls her best friend. Paulie Bleeker is such a weird, unconfident kid that just the site himself is funny. He dresses funny, his hair is always a mess, he's softspoken, and wears these ridiculously short running shorts for track. Throughout the entire movie though, I was unclear of what they're relationship really was.
The movie has so many great lines that willl certainly become quotes our family has fun repeating for years to come. For example:
"It's probably just a food baby. Did you have a big lunch?"
"He said her house smells like soup."
"Your eggo is preggo."
I could go on and on with the funny quotes peppered through this movie. For me, that's one thing that will make a movie unforgettable; the lines that we can repeat over and over to each other.
The one con I thought the movie had thoguh was, it actually glorifies teenage pregnancy. Juno is never punished by her parents, she herself becomes somewhat of a hero for giving her baby to another couple for adoption, and you never really see her struggling with the emotion of giving the baby away. In my opinion, the movie would have been better served to show the downside of becoming pregnant at such a young age.
