Juno —

I hadn't heard of this film until Oprah started yapping about it and it was nominated for gobs of Golden Globes.  So a few weeks ago when I was off of work for a holiday and I was lonely I went to se Juno and I LOVED it!

Juno was a great film!  The story is about Juno, a 16-year-old high school student who got bored on day and had sex with her friend Paulie. And got pregnant.  Oops.  Paulie is a little freaked out by the whole thing and his involvement is basically the conception and not much else as Juno takes control and deals with the pregnancy.

The basis of the movie is very simple.  It's basically Juno telling her parents, dealing with being a pregnant high school student, finding a couple to adopt her baby, and getting to know that couple.  Juno is a very quirky kid as are her friends, family, and the couple planning to adopt her baby.  But the real entertainment value is in Juno herself and the lines she delivers.  The character reminds me very much of Georgia in the Dead Like Me series; generally quite calm, totally sarcastic, smart-mouthed, and hilarious in an odd way.

I loved Juno, I loved her parents, I even loved Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman as the couple planning to adopt Juno's baby.  Garner was good playing the part of a mother burned out by being unable to become pregnant and fearful of another adoption falling through.  Bateman was also very good although I didn't quite trust his character who turned out to be really creepy at the end.

5 stars!
