Junior Mints —

Junior Mints is another favorite candy of mine. They are small bites of mint covered in dark chocolate that is a refreshing treat for anytime of the day. They come in a box instead of a bag and are made by Tootsie Roll Industries.

The Candy

Junior Mints were first introduced on the market in 1940's and have been a popular candy choice for people of all ages. They come in a regular size box that weighs 1.6 oz. and also the larger "movie size" box that sells for $1.00 in the store but $2.00 or more at the movies. You can also purchase bags of "fun size" Junior Mints for treats for children or Trick or Treat at Halloween.

It's interesting to note how these mints got their name. Durning the early 1940's there was a popular book on the market by Sally Benson that was also adapted into a Broadway Play. The name of it was Junior Miss. When the candy was developed, James Welch decided to name it after his favorite Broadway Play. And that is how Junior Mints got its name!

My ViewPoint

This is a good candy to indulge in anytime or anywhere! The dark chocolate is mild and most people who are not dark chocolate fans, are ok with the mint/chocolate combination. I find Junior Mints a tasty snack for watching a movie or TV. I also enjoy them at my desk at work for an afternoon chocolate pick-me-up. The mint is refreshing and combined with the chocolate is a great boost to a dragging afternoon in the office!

I also like the box packaging. If you don't want to eat the whole box, you can close them up and save some for another day or time. However, it is hard to not finish off a box, once opened!

I like Junior Mints! I give them 5 VP's!

Junior mints - love them :-) But, they always remind me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry and Kramer are eating them during the operation, too funny. Even Kramer says about them, What's not to love? LOL

Hi from a Junior Mint hater (-: That's OK. Good point for all my family members who adore these. I find peppermint hotter than hot peppers (which I do love). Mint just burns me up. I don't know of anyone else who freaks on peppermint. My bad I guess.

OOOO, never tried these frozen but I have frozen the York peppermint candies. I also love frozen M&M's! Thanks for the tip, Matt!

I agree! Try them frozen too. Great low fat candy.

I love these two. I gave some away at Halloween but this was one of the candies that I stashed aside to save as a last resort b/c I wanted them :)

I loved Junior Mints, it was a sad day when I developed an allergy to chocolate/mint.
