If it wasn't so expensive, I would still be with them!

Let me start by saying, I love julep! I started with their nail polish sampling program through a reward site that allowed me to only pay for shipping for trying out the offer. I received 3 nail polishes every month in nice square containers and a box that was very nicely decorated. The quality of the nail polish is great and I really liked seeing all the different shades every month. There are only a few things I wish I could change. I wish I could have picked my own shades because you are the only one who knows which shade you like and how often you will use it. I received a couple greens and of course julep did not know, but I do not really wear green, so I would have preferred to pick the shades myself. I wish they had a suspension service where you could skip a month or so if you wanted to stop paying for it or felt like you had too much polish at one time, but they don't. I also wish it was cheaper overall. I kept my subscription with julep for a few months because I really liked their polish, but eventually ended up cancelling because of the price. I would encourage you to try it out at least. You can get a free box as a new member and only pay for shipping.

I received a special offer to try Julep's Maven service and though the package arrived quickly, the nail polish was extremely disappointing. I had to put four coats of nail polish on to get the color the bottle advertised, and the polish itself was runny and got all over my hands. It was quite a mess after the hype Julep has around it. The gel top coat I received made matters worse and when I tried to get the nail polish off with a remover, the entire nail color came off with one swoop. If it had stayed any longer, it would not have lasted much longer than a few days at most. I unsubscribed from the service after this incident because it is far from worth the full price for each month. I am severely uninterested in Julep's products as a whole after this unfortunate occurrence and have no plans to be associated with their website or products. I would not recommend this to anyone who appreciated good quality nail polish, especially when I can get cheaper and better products at the drugstore.

I love these products

Like many others, I tried these products by signing up as a Maven, and got the first box for free. I figured I could always cancel if I wasn't satisfied, but liked them so much that I got more. Some of the colors look a bit eccentric in the bottle, but come out great on my nails. Okay, so I decided that I could treat myself to the monthly box, but that would be it. This was until I found the great deals in the clearance section. I wasn't crazy about the eyeshadow (too powdery), but fell in absolute love with a lipgloss from my Maven, and definitely ordered more on sale. (I had a lot of fun in the clearance section). Part of what I love so much is the quality of everything I've tried. The lip gloss seemed to have some kind of cell repair quality. Nail polish lasts a very short time on my nails, and this product has been one of the best so far. It dries so quickly, and the smell seems to dissipate in no time. I treated myself to two mystery boxes, and was amazed to find a mascara in one of them. Most of what I receive are nail polishes, but I am enjoying trying these other great products. I wrote to the company because I wanted to skip a month. I got a quick replay, which was so friendly and helpful. I felt good after dealing with this company. All I want to do is tell you how much I love this company.

Good products, Horrible customer service - Stay away.

Although the products seem good and are packaged with a high end look, the polish brush is difficult to use. I tried the first box for free and decided I didn't want to spend that much every month. I tried to cancel the next box, but found that there is only a three day window to cancel each box. The second box shipped and I chalked it up to me not getting my act together. The next month, I tried emailing to cancel my subscription. I got a reply email stating I had to call. The customer service hours are 9-5 Monday through Friday only. You can leave a voicemail, but they say they will only call you back if there is a problem finding your account. So you can only cancel your subscription during certain hours and only by phone. The company didn't have any problem signing me up by email, yet they make cancelling very difficult. In addition, you cannot return a monthly box for a refund. Stay away from this company.

Great product/customer service

I had a free first sampler box, so I paid a few bucks in shipping and handling and tried the Julep offer out. It arrived quickly (about one week's time) and the packaging was nice and neat. Inside were two nail polish bottles, cuticle serum a nail filer. Also, a bunch of coupons for saving off of the next box. My issue was switching bank accounts, so I had to call and cancel. I dialed the provided phone number and after 2 rings, someone picked up. I asked to cancel and they were pleasant and no questions asked. Whole phone call took less than one minute to cancel and they followed up with an email to prove it was cancelled. I did not obviously get the monthly box of goodies, but I may sign back up, as the product is great. I painted my fingernails with one of the cool colors and I was very pleased with the quality. The brush itself was nothing special and seemed to be cheaply made, but the polish itself went on evenly (only had to apply one coat...and it was even a light color!) and dried in less than 2 minutes. It's now been several days and it hasn't chipped. All in all, a good product and great customer service.

Not a bad service, but not for me

The Julep Maven program works like this - you sign up, enter your shipping and billing information, and once a month you get a box of polishes and occasionally other cosmetic goodies. Along with polishes I've also gotten loose glitters and lip glosses. For each monthly box you receive, you get account credits called "Jules". These can be used to purchase products off the site, or they can be applied for discounts. Typically you get 300 of these points per box, and it takes 2000 to quality for a free box. You can also get Jules by referring friends and through other promotions. One of the most attractive things about this program is that you can choose to skip boxes without penalty. However, there's only a small window in which you can do this. In order to skip a box you must sign into your account between the 20th and the 24th. During this time you can preview the next box and opt out if you wish. The process is actually pretty easy, but you need to remember to do it. I tried Julep for a few months but ultimately unsubscribed. Why? I just wasn't in love with their polishes, and I have little need for the other cosmetic extras the boxes sometimes include. The polishes were a bit too thick for my liking and the colors were pretty uninspired. I found I was getting a lot of polishes I probably would have passed over otherwise. I think this program is worth trying if you're a polish fiend like I am, but carefully read over the terms so that you're not stuck receiving products you don't need or want.

I don't even know where to start with Julep. First of all, I signed up to try the first kit for free to see if I would like it. You never know when you can only get it online, right? The box arrived quickly, which was great. The products are all packaged nicely and look high end. The colors are beautiful. This is why I generously gave Julep a 3. And then you use it. What a HUGE disappointment! The polish brush is inferior to say the least. The polish doesn't go on evenly and it starts chipping by the next day! I work in an office, not a coal mine. Polish should not start chipping 24 hours later. At the price they charge, I would have expected a much better product. And then comes the next disappointment. You can't get in touch with them to cancel your subscription. I tried for 2 weeks by phone and email. By then the NEXT box had shipped to me and I was billed again. Another box of crap nail polish. I gave it to my daughter and 2 days later even she was asking what was the deal with the polish? After 2 or 3 emails, a voice mail, and another package of bad nail polish, I FINALLY got my subscription cancelled. Take my advice, if you can't try it in the store and check it out, don't buy it. Not even when they offer the first box free.

I LOVE BEING A JULEP MAVEN!

I have always had interest in nail polishes and pretty nails but never took the time to invest money in polish until now. I decided to give the Mave program a try and have been nothing but HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!! I actually look forward to using a different color each and every day! My coworkers and friends have notice the attention to detail on my hands and that has added an extra bit of confidence to my life. I also love getting my monthly box in the mail and the Secret Shop offers that are available at discounted prices. What makes this company even more wondeful is that the polish itself is free from severly chemicals that damage nails. That allows me to paint my nails with a greater sense of health! When it comes time to change my colors, it's easy to remove the non-glitter colors with simple and gentle remover from CVS. The glitter polishes require a bit more work with acetone but I don't mind. I have pretty nails! If you love having nice nails and adore compliments, you need to become a MAVEN!! I also wanted to add that, after 3 months of constant, everyday use, my nails are STILL JUST AS HEALTHY as they were before I started painting them as I do now. The absence of the chemicals seems to be the difference. :O)

Great polish!

I joined the Julep Maven club with intentions of getting my first box which was reasonably priced and then cancelling before I had to pay the 19.99 for the next month. My box came and the sizes of the 2 nail polishes I received were smaller than I expected. I also received a cuticle strengthener. I am really not a nail polish type of person. I don't wear it often on my fingernails because no matter what brand I have tried chips and before I get around to removing it my fingernails look worse than before I started. I do however polish my toenails, which is why I got this offer. The colors I received were Vernis A Ongles which was a gold color and a very dark green. I wasn't crazy about either color. I suppose I could have chosen better on the colors so that was my own fault. I did my toes in the dark color. I didn't like it at all, but that is just my personal preference of color. I decided to attempt my fingernails so did those in the gold color. I LOVED it! My fingernails looked as if I had a professional manicure. The polish was so smooth, without the brush strokes I usually get. The next day to my surprise it was as nice as the first. Three days later, still great! I have never had nail polish that lasts like this stuff! I went to the website to see about my next shipment. On certain dates when the boxes are available for viewing you can change to other boxes so I chose colors I loved, and am now awaiting my next box. My biggest complaint, and why I didn't give this a 9 or 10 is that the website is a confusing. It took me quite a while to figure out how everything works. I hope to have the money to continue to get this. Even the 19.99 is not a bad price for 2 polishes and another product.

Awful Company!

I signed up for Julep to get a quick and cheap Christmas gift for my mother and had never intended to stay a member. It was a subscription plan and I knew I had 30 days to cancel. WRONG! Within less than 10 days after ordering I was charged and shipped the next box. It had been a NIGHTMARE trying to get a refund from this company! I'm STILL waiting almost a month later, they have their unopened product back but I still don't have my money! Oh and when I opened the box I DID order, the one that was meant as the gift, the entire shipment was incorrect and they've never even bothered to try and fix that at all, even though its on record they sent the wrong order! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! They're shady as hell and I don't mean that in a cute way since they sell nail polish, when asked why they charged me so quickly I was told oh if you had ordered 2 days later you wouldn't have been til next month! Seriously?! Don't ever buy from them unless you want to deal with this unending headache!
