Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell may not be for everyone; it's a lovely, well-crafted, 'alternate hstory' type of fantasy novel with extraordinary prinary, secondary, and tertiary characters, who al have 'an independant' existence. It has often been compared to Jane Austen's books, but I find it more similar too Chares Dickens's - sans joycian dialect. — The plotline may seem to some readers to be occasionally evasive; I did not find it so. This book was amazing. It really waslike Harry Potter for adults. It may seema little daunting at first because of its size and can be a little distracting with the massive footnotes, but it was funny and magical.
