Jonathon's "Dirt" is pretty hair friendly.
I have extremely fine, oily hair and it goes limp if you just look at it - no really, it's that bad. So I have spent bookoo bucks trying new products over the years that can give my hair life...give it lift...and last! My husband swears that I've tried Jonathan's Dirt Texturizing Paste before and didn't like it - how can HE remember that but I can't???? He doesn't, he's just seen so many hair products come and go, they're all the same to him. I have tried other pastes and waxes and have found they are HORRIBLE for my hair type. I think Jonathon's Dirt would be great for short hair; it adds a nice amount of texture and if you use a very little amount it won't leave your hair looking greasy. I thought for sure this was going to stink, because I have short/medium length hair and this oil slick doesn't take kindly to extra goop. But to my surprise, Jonathon Dirt Texturizing Paste passed the picky test. My hair is so fly away after washing it, I really have to apply great products to make me not look like a little hippie boy from the 70's...my hair is that flat, fly away and lame. But, I started using some of Jonathon's products, after two of my favorites became discontinued (another brand) and have been surprisingly happy with the results. The key to using this particular product is to use less...much less then your brain thinks it should. I use just a small amouth of dirt "less than a pencil eraser size (like 1/2 that size)" and then I rub it between my finger tips and apply sparingly all over my head, concentrating at the roots. I do this AFTER I dried my hair and it seems to work best before I flat iron it. If you use TOO MUCH you hair will look greasy, again less is more! Then I style my hair as usual and I get great volume and staying power surprisingly. I of course hair spray the crap out of my hair afterwords, but Jonathan Dirt Texturizing Paste is a great product even for whimpy hair like mine.
