Babies generally have soft skin but even the skin of a baby can find itself in need of some moisturizing, particular during the winter season when the air is dry. One product I have used for this purpose and like very well is Johnson & Johnson Bedtime Lotion, a product used to keep your baby's skin soft.

Lotion Commentary:

Johnson & Johnson Bedtime Lotion is a product I have been using for many months. I got a bottle of this for the first time along with a similar product- Johnson & Johnson Bedtime Bath. These two products are similar in smell and they generally produce the same results: Making your baby's skin feel soft and smooth and also helping to calm him/her down in preparation for a good night's sleep.

Among this lotion's many assets, the main one has to be the scent. It isn't as potent as the Bedtime Bath, but it is still the same, identical smell only in a somewhat toned down level of intensity. The scent is like a mixture of lavender, citrus, and other scents that make it seem like an air freshener only better. The smell is very pleasant, and it's no wonder that it has the effect on babies that it does.

As far as the claim that the aroma from this lotion has a calming effect on babies, I can say that it is true, but only to an extent. The Bedtime Bath, on the other hand, puts my baby girl to sleep within minutes and definitely exceeded all my expectations when I tried it for the first time. The lotion offers the same smell, but it isn't as intense as the Bedtime Bath and that is probably part of the reason its effects are not as obvious. Also, I think the Bedtime Bath is more inducing of sleep because the baby smells it while already enjoying the relaxed feeling that only a warm bath can bring.

Another asset of this product is its effect on the skin. It really does make a difference in softness and I can easily tell the difference between baby skin with and without the use of this lotion. Even on a nasty, cold winter day, my little one's skin feels soft if she has used this lotion. And even though it is intended for babies, Johnson & Johnson recommends using on adult skin as well, to take advantage of its moisturizing qualities.

Bottom Line:

I really enjoy this lotion, and my little girls like it too. The scent is excellent, and the softening and moisture retention qualities are both better than average. It doesn't put my child to sleep the way the Bedtime Bath does, but it does offer some calming effects. I have gotten into the habit of using the lotion right after a bath using the Bedtime Bath formula. The combination of the two makes for a good night's sleep and a calm, happy baby.
