The composer strikes back in this 2004 reprise of Empire score

In the fall of 2004, just as 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Lucasfilm Ltd. were unleashing the long-awaited box set of the Star Wars Trilogy DVDs, Sony Classical re-issued the 1997 "Special Edition" soundtracks of Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in 2-CD albums that contained the same tracks as in the RCA Victor/BMG Music editions (even using the same track sequences and titles) but featured new cover art, had a few interesting "extra features" for PCs such as screensavers, and were digitally remastered with Sony's Direct Stream...

I was twelve years old when I first saw Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back.  The poster in the theater lobby was a very Gone With The Wind tribute scene with Han Solo holding Princess Leia.  Who can forget the thrill of the snow walkers marching towards the rebel base on those great big screens of yesteryear?  Or the hair raising flight through the asteroids?  The movie was very intense, something only a good film score can add power to.  This soundtrack was only the second instrumental soundtrack that I liked at the time, the first being the whole fist album of John Williams' Superman -... read full review »
