When my box of goodies arrived I told my mother, who is from MN and staying with me for a few weeks, and my husband the "deal" with Bzz.
I discussed the below with my husband and mother and both of them are going to be trying what I have in my shower and will report back to me.
I have naturally curly, greying hair that is dyed every 8-10 weeks. I have also recently started losing some hair at the crown. I consider my hair on the dryer side and I have yet to find the "holy grail" as far as hair care is concerned.
I showered and used both the shampoo and conditioner this morning. The smell of the shampoo was NOT what I was expecting. I was expecting an "in your face" scent because of the peppermint and eucalyptus (even though there is no eucalyptus oil in it). I was kind of disappointed that it didn't smell really strong. It's a pleasant smell but could be stronger. I put about a quarter sized drop in my hand and started shampooing my hair. It lathered beautifully! Nice and thick. I really worked it in to my roots and did a good scrub. Here is where my second disappointment came in. 'Root Awakening', I was expecting to get a strong tingle to make me FEEL like it was working and really doing something and I didn't get it. I kept waiting and waiting for the tingle to set in. I think this company could really amp up the peppermint to make people "think" that it's really doing something great to their hair. Peppermint doesn't help the hair but it would make people "think" that it was doing something. I was also expecting more of a conditioning feel because of the high amount of dimethicone. I didn't get it. While the shampoo lathered great I wasn't "WOW, I have to get me some of this".
On to the conditioner. After expectations fell flat on the shampoo, I knew not to expect a strong smell or tingle feeling from the conditioner. It felt great going on the hair. Lovely "slip". I let it sit on my hair for a good 10 mins and rinsed. I loved the feel of my hair as it was being rinsed off, nice and soft. Easily rinsed. I was thinking that this I might purchase.
I skipped the spray because I wanted to judge just the shampoo and conditioner. I towel dried my hair and went about my normal routine, a dollop of mousse and a quick blow dry with a diffuser. On dry down my hair is feeling REALLY, REALLY soft!!! I like it :) I'm going to continue to use this shampoo and conditioner and see if it really does help with the "healthier hair" aspect.
My two cents so far: The shampoo and conditioner are better than the cheaper "main stream" ones that are available. I'd even rate it as good as Joico, which is a more expensive shelf brand. I think the price point is about right. I think the company could also amp up the peppermint or add another essential oil that would give the "tingle" on the head and even charge more. Without the tingle I have a hard time believing that anything is "working" to give me healthier hair and awakening anything.
